Why not try a DIY job? It's not too difficult. The only thing that would be hard is matching the shade of the other light.

Smoked Tail Lights and a Drop

Hey whats up guys,

I have a desert silver 2002 C230K Coupe. But I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys about smoking my tail lights. I'm not entirely sure how it will look, but I have a pretty good idea, and I think I will like it. I haven't seen any 02 Coupes that have had them smoked, only coupes that have been upgraded to 05 tail lights. Which at first I really liked them, but now I think I'd rather have them smoked since I have gotten my car tinted. I think it would blend in really well. If anyone has any pics of a coupe like mine with smoked tail lights LMK I have looked in a lot of different places. I just now found a guy that has done smokes in the past and he said he could do it for me for a couple hundred, so I thought I'd pursue it. I plan on getting this done in the next week, and then I think I'm going to get some TEIN Basic coilovers installed the following week. What do you guys think.

PS: New shoes in a few months

Hi,

good to see another coupe being modded.

as for smoke tails, many of our coupes have smoked tails. it looks amazing. I had smoked my old tails (the ones you have) and then upgraded to 05 tails and smoked that!

lowering, RIMS first then lower

Awesome, I'm glad to get some feedback/help

Why rims first? I was hopeing to get this drop for Christmas. I think my parents will buy them for me, then I'll just pay install/labor. (I just turned 19 )

I'm pretty sure I have 17 inch rims right? How close would it be if I got 18 inch rims with the TEIN drop. I don't know the first thing about what would need to be done.

Yeah man, I actually already have the Windows tinted 20%, those are just old pics....although the pic from the back is newer with the tint. I am planning on getting some black rims with the chrome lips. Like ChristianJan has, here is the pic. His sig says C7 rims...what brand are they? Google search on black C7 rims actually returns ChristianJan's MBWorld Profile LOL...so not much help.

dropping the car always makes the car look better imo. as for the taillights it would look good and match your roof. i would black out the grille too.

mine is white, smoked and dropped!!!! the droppped look gives the sporty look, and the smoked tail lights on the white... well looks good (as long as you tint the side markers also and have a tinted plate... otherwise... it looks "off"

also.. i am looking for someone to take a picture of inside the first aid kit door on the coupe (for insurance reasons) can anyone help with that???

Oh yes, that is something I've been wanting to do too, black the grille out that is.

Whats the difference between a CL grille and a Mattig grille??

What do you guys think about the clear projector black housing headlamp units like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DEPO-...spagenameZWDVW

Yeah I know these exact ones will not fit, but I'm hoping to find some black housing ones that will fit. I just wanted to know what you guys thought about them. I don't think I've seen them on a coupe.

I would be extremely happy with just clear 05's....i just hate the frosted look. I know MLbenz has the 05 upgrade kit, but i have emailed them for a price quote numerous time and have not gotten any reponse.

Stickercity tail light tint?

Ive searched and I know this topic has been beaten to death, but..

Its very hard to tell from pictures whether or not the tint film available from stickercity.com looks "cheap" or not. For those of you that have used the tint film can you tell its a sticker? Or does it look as good as if they were painted by a body shop?

TIA,

Will

sticker city's transparent vinyl is very thick compared to what ive used before, i used their yellow on my fog lights and it came out nice, but it might be hard for a tail light, i got some tint from a seller on ebay really cheap and it actually came out half way decent, ill post pics of the new set up when i get my rims on. but it was very tuff to do on my own, i ended up tearing one side on the last tail light so i had to manage to finish it as clean as i could, u cant tell till you get right up to it, but i do plan on redoing it as soon as i feel unlazy
