Smartkey Starter now available for W203
We just finished testing our smartkey starter remote start on the W203 C Class and it is now available for any W203 with build dates from 07/02 and newer. The interface is also plug-and-play and will work with factory keys with or without the panic button.
Here is video of the system in action:

actually if you have the remote with the panic button then you simply press panic to start the vehicle. The Lock-Unlock-Lock is for the canadian and overseas models that do not come with the panic button on the remote.

We do not currently have distribution set up in the UK but we ship worldwide so we can arrange to get you a starter. If you email us at sales@midcityengineering.com with your post code we can give you all the details.

The unit itself is plug-and-play with all oem connectors so no wires get cut and the entire vehicle can go back to stock at any time. The hardest part is getting to the back of the ignition cylinder to plug everything in. To do this you need to remove the radio, vents, climate control, and ashtray and unbolt the center console. Once you do that then you can unbolt the driver side lower panels and pull them down to access the ignition cylinder module.
Since there is alot of disassembly (and since its hooking to your ignition) we recommend that you have it professionally installed. Otherwise its probably a saturday DIY project if you feel so inclined.

We do not have manual transmission tested yet but based on the way we have implemented the safety checks in the past, it will require that the shifter is in neutral and the parking brake is set for the remote starter to work.

MSRP is normally $999 installed for the Smartkey remote starter but we are going to be running an introductory promotion specifically for mbworld members for the W203 model so we should be able to get you guys a really good price. Ill post more about that and all the details in the next day.

The mercedes (smartkey) system is so secure that it has never been circumvented to allow a remote start until now and we are the *only* ones that have been able to do it successfully. A good way to see for yourself is to call your local remote start shop and ask the price to install a remote start on a mercedes with a smartkey (some people call it laser key) and see what they say... thats where the fun starts and they tell you that its going to be thousands of dollars (or that it simply cannot be done).
Nevertheless we understand that we need to get as low a price as possible which is why we are going to be running this promotion. Like I said i will get you guys as good a price as possible...

Incidentally back when you still couldnt do a remote start on a benz we made a spoof video showing just that: the guy presses the remote button and then it cuts to a guy under a blanket in the back seat who wakes up, yawns, and turns the ignition key...
