Brakes new rotors or machine???

well had a wheel off today and im like 2mm away from the nrake sensor hitting so im going to do the breaks soon before it gets too cold

so I plan on going with Akebono pads as im sick of the dust on my rims

so should i replace my rotors or have them machined (provided they are thick enough) fronts im talking about

This is a myth......however, they are so inexpensive it doesn't make sense to turn them unless you have your own equipment and the time.

Absolutely a myth!!

Contact. If rotors are above minimum thickness just put on a new set of pads. People throw away far too many rotors on this forum. splinter posted minimum thicknesses.

They are $52 US and about $35 each to turn! The minimum thickness is stamped on the rotor hub. And I agree with Glyn....no need to turn at all if they are within the minimum thickness.

My front look fine rears not so much

as for the prices basically every part is double the cost from the us to Canada....and our dollar is on par I usually order my parts from the us but the wight would kill me in shipping Ill order the pads for sure but not rotors

I switched to Porterfield pads and used the same rotors with no problem. Make sure you break in your new pads & rotors.

I took my E550 to shop as soon as the brake wear indicator came on. (2 days it was on) I told the guy at Tire Kingdom that it just came on and I came right away so I did not have to replace Rotors. He told me that "Mercedes Benz Rotors are composite throw away Rotors" ....I have never heard of such a thing. Did I get screwed?

I don't know that they are "composite" but all rotors are throw away now. It costs the shops more time and energy to reface rotors than it does to pay for new ones. It's the thickness that determines whether or not rotors are still good and it's not uncommon to replace rotors and pads at the same time on the front and two sets of pads for rear rotors.
