oh i do have a limited budget.
A good offering for those on a budget, especially in 19s would be the General Exclaim UHP. While maybe not quite as quiet as a Michelin, or Goodyear, definitely well within your budget ($130 on tire rack) ($134 on www.TD4L.com)

If you are running staggered wheels and tires, than I'd personally suggest the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, its a stellar performance tire, and a much better offering than the PS2 in my personal experience.

I have the KDW2s on my 19s. They have chopped up a bit since I drive quite a bit, and hadn't rotated them between synthetic oil changes (about 10,000 miles). But should wear out now they've been rotated. In light of that small snafu, I'd personally still go for the Goodyears, better shoulder wear resistance, and plus they look stellar.

Are you running the suggested sizes (225/35-19 and 255/30-19) or something different?

i might go with 225s up front and 265s in the back...not too sure just yet...
plus going wit the car wil be a set of coilovers so trying to avoid too much rubbing

ive been runnin Falken452 225/35/19 up front and 265/30 rear. I just ordered Toyo T1R's 235/35 and 275/30. Does anyone know if the T1R have a straighter sidewall than the Falkens? I know the 235 shouldnt be a problem up front, but im just wondering about putting 275's in back. Anyone do this before?

Thanks

RedG & I agree - a historic moment - The Eagle F1 Assymetic is your tyre Roc if you can get it at a price that suits you - It has almost identical design philosophy to the Michelin Exalto PE2 & PS2 - it's a great drive - It won Autocar's Tyre of the year with those fussy Poms. It's fairly quiet & will stay that way if you change it's rolling direction every 7000 miles.

Forget the BFG & the General Exclaim UHP - General have been experiencing run out problems on these tyres from plants in Czech Republic, Portugal & Brazil. You don't want to have to grind half the tread off the tyre before you balance it.

If you mainly looking just for street tires, i dont think you really have to drop the cash of a ps2 or t1r's.

you will do fine with some bf goodrich kdw's or goodyear F1's.
mike, i think 380rwhp is gonna be a tall order. as John pointed out that even on the 178 crank pulley that me and John's running he has noted we can peak 19psi and sometimes even 20 when cold enough already. the 185 is constant around 19-20psi. those that have it alone with the headers and intake are running around 360rwhp as I've seen. maybe gutted cat and a new cam can help produce that 380rwhp power, but don't see them being worth the many in the end.

a srt6 with code mid pulley, 178 crank pulley with intake, tune, header is doing 378whp. So 380whp is definately within reach, its more difficult on the c32 since we dont have enough clearance to run the 3'' cai like the srt's can.

Man i wish i could stay away from there. but i work there, right on the sunset strip... seriously the streets suck out there, Sunset Blvd is f'd up and now they got metal plates all over the place, Fountain was cool, but now there are metal plates on that street too...

you work on the fox lot?? that's a pretty messed up route, is that better than going over laurel canyon?

Yep, I've had mine for awhile now, and prefer them over the PS2s I used to have. Seem to be wearing better, too.

Yup on the Fox Lot. The drive is horrible but at the end when I get there it's very rewarding.

I work at the IT Security department (we are the ethical hackers). I always get called to go investigate a matter. So since the lot is huge I travel with my golf cart and on the way let's just say there are a lot of Golf Cart Races (since I'm close with the security guards).

That's the only thing I look forward to when I go to work lol

Laurel Canyon is tempting man all those turns I use to drive slow to make distance then ride the turns hard until a couple of close calls. So I avoid that route.

Where do you work Sunset and what?

You should come by during lunch and join us for our Golf Cart Races lol

Maybe extra 8 miles more for you?

But I got to find an alternative route I mean when I go with the 19" Lorinsers (Aluminum) I know i'm going to bend my rims with the Hollywood roads.

Yes - They are a nice tyre - I would not swap them for my Exalto PE2s - they are not as good on the 203 if you are as fanatical about noise & turn in as I am but a fine tyre nevertheless. It's a pity they blocked the two tread bands that surround the solid centre band - thats where the slight noise comes from but they had to do something to not be a complete Michelin copy - as it is they irritated Michelin who do consider them a copy. The Exalto compromises life vs handling of the PS2 but it's a revelation on the 203. Especially on models that precede the softer bushing. My car came with Conti Sport Contact 2s - utter crap - noisy - lousy turn in etc. Ditched them in disgust under half worn. You don't buy a smooth Benz 6 to put up with the nonesense the Conti's cause.

The PS2 is still the king of dry road performance - but I guess we don't drive Porsche's

don't forget the srt6/r170 chassi has less drivetrain loss. ours will probably hit 370 at most with same mods. i'm only missing code3 mid pulley on that list btw. .

Or drive only when it's dry out. I was not fond of my wet traction with the PS2s on.

rocafel1a - I have no idea. With my Eisenmann race, Supersprint headers, Magnaflow cat, and Mercedes-Benz panorama roof creaks, it would take a lot to hear any tire noise. So I'm not the best person to ask.

And I'm on 18's - can't do 19's in NJ and expect tires or rims to last too long.

Cheaper/Recomended Tires?

Alright guys I just got home and got some bad news. We (IT Security Team) have been wiped out. The plug has been pulled and we are now part of the many unemployed people. We were given this letter and sent on our way.

Nevertheless I still want to get tires so I can finally put my rims on my car.
I got a quote for Pirelli Neros:
235/35-19
265/30-19
for $936 mounted and balanced. Is this a good deal? I got a quote for $736 and was told they are General. What other options can I go with? I don't really want to sacrifice performance just maybe different brands that will perform better for less. Are Pirellis mostly the name? How do the Neros perform?

Thank You,

Here is the memo we got (instead of posting the huge pic I posted the link)

So you're a statistic, too? It sucks.

Have you looked to see if Kumho makes anything in that size? I've always had good luck with Kumho tires, and my car wears ASX tires by them at the moment.

a quarter mile at a time
Nero's are decent, but overpriced and I've heard that they wear very quickly IMO. I'm in the same boat, need new tires soon. $936 seems like a really good price for Neros though.

I'm actually willing to give up ultimate dry performance for something that's quieter. I'm looking at the new Yokohama S Drives. They are $796 at tirerack.com

I sounded like a real idiot asking him what brand are the general tires

General tires are part of Conti-Travis(Continental) Group.

Some GT tires are made in Germany......If you read some reviews on tirerack, people actually like it more than the expensive Continental.
