tire questions
I have a “03” c320 coupe I’ve had it about a month. It came with Michelin MXV4 plus tires size 205/55 R. These tires are not the best looking or handling.
Two questions,
1. What experience has anyone had with other tires on this car that handle and look better?
2. Can I put a larger tire on the stock rim, and if so how much larger?

Best thing to do in my opinion is to go to a high quality shop (Brabus/Lorinser resaler) and ask them about sizing. They usually have good infor for you. Im sure you could bump up the width by 10 or so.

you live in mass like me. if youre looking for all seasons try the continental extreme contacts. get the price from tire rack then go to sears and they will beat that price by 10% as is their policy. they are quiet and handle well but as they age [over 10k] they start to get louder. the michelins you had are like some I had on my TL and my LS. they suck.

Out Of Control!!
Just go to Tirerack and look around. They'll tell you which tires will fit your rims, have tons of reviews/head-to-head tests, etc. It's the best place to start your research.
Here in the NE, the best thing to do is have a dedicated set of summers and a dedicated set of winters. There's no such thing as a great all-season tire.

driving conditions
The worst weather that I would drive this car in would be rain, and even then I try not to do that. It is my non summer car (summer car is a 97 BMW Z3) but I also have a Mazde pickup for the nasty days. I looking for a tire that would be great on a dry road, good on a wet road, quiet, and look good.

It's the stock opening but it looks like someone told me the number for the bracket. The first picture is the 19" with the tool kit in place. I put the other picture there to show the wheel. All I had to do is switch the lift handle around and trim two little tabs off. They dont seem to serve any purpose?? But If you have AMG brakes and custom wheels that you my not find easy and fast. And I was 550 miles from home. I think having this option is nice just change it and press on. And don't ask Mercedes dealers for help. Sacramento dealer sucks by the way. They just flat out said they can't help me.

Although, I don't think I'm gonna get a full size Superleggera III, probably just the 1 piece Superleggera. We'll see what I decide.

wow a full 19. I thought I was one of the few with a non factory spare. I have an 18 spare running on Pirelli Neros. Normal wheel size is 19 though

New Tires
I need new tires. What is a good tire for under $180.00?
I currently have 225x40x18 Kumho's on TSW Bremma's. I was looking at the Falken GR Beta FK-451 for $137.99 and the Yokohama AVS ES100 for $179, both of these were found on NTB's website. Any sugguestions?

I got yokohama avs es100 for my wife's 04 c230 which has staggered tires.
The reason I bought them is they are good tires(good reviews on tirerack and some recommendation from fellow members) at a reasonable price.
I got them off tirerack at 600 bucks including shipping and have a local shop to put them(including) balance for 15 bucks each!
It works out fine now..since I only put 2k miles after the replacement.
good luck!

plus, MJ has been on the board for a while... most of the people have seen his car and do know that it is staggered.
I second the goodyears. I'm definitely replacing my toyos with those when the time comes...
