I went by the shop(2675 Dawson) today around 11:30am and the place was closed. All I saw was a truck blocking the driveway, warning people not to park there cars in here or they'll be towed.I tried calling, but no answer,it just kept ringing.
Did they go out of business or move???![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Still looking for a shop around the South Bay area to mount my rims & tires.

I actually called ef1 today and they were apparently on vacation (and I missed the thing on their website as well...)
Ed, I asked them about your camber arms. They said 1 hour at $90 and $99 for an alignment.

In comparison to the BMW I drove last week, I think my ride could be made quite a bit more sporty. As in, a touch less play in the steering.
Ohh, and thanks for the kick in on the thread in OT.

I was sent the wrong rims (bolt pattern don't match) so I had to return them and got new ones. I am having a little trouble finding the correct tire measurement for the front and they are 19x8. Any help is appreciated.

Proper measurement will be 235/35R19. If it is a staggered setup, rear will be 265/30R19.

Keep in mind though...You have to make sure that the offsets on your wheels are fit perfect to clear everything. Don't just arbitrarily buy tires without confirming first.
I'm just giving you the general specs that work for majority of the people running 19's. That being said, depending on what the offsets are on the wheels, you may have to run 255's in the rear to make it work without rubbing. Others have had to do that as well.

Good thing I found this thread before I started a new post... STFFFTMFW. Anyways, I was wondering, since Drex just answered my first question on what the optimal tire setup would be on a set of 19" staggered rims, could you run any other setups on them? I had my mind set on a few different types of tires from tirerack.com but while looking for tires of that size I couldn't really find any decent tires that are also in my price range. If I should definitely run the 235/35R19 and 265/30R19, could any of you recommend a good set? (I'm trying to spend under $200 per tire, is that unreasonable?).
Oh, and also, the wheels are 19x8.5 ET35 / 19x9.5 ET38, those should fit well with the setup Drex said on my 02 C240 correct? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

19" tire wear question
I think a lot of us all got 19s...figured its been long enough that we ought to have some good usage data. So I'll start
General Exclaim UHPs, 20k with no more than 1/2 tread left. Think I could easily get another 15k out them. Just daily driving.
anyone else?

good post. i've got 19's with general exclaim UHP's as well. Good to know what I can expect from these when I start reaching that mileage. I've put about 1k on mine and so far so good...

I went through three sets of rears before I had to replace the front's
last set I had of 265 in the rears lasted about 9-10,000 miles and had a 340 treadwear

I had Nitto NT555 on my 05 C230SS.
After just 18mos. I sold the rims and tires. 24K on them, back tires were bald, showing belts. Fronts had 4 or 5/32nds on them. They were A temp, A traction, and 300 tread wear. Fronts were 235/30/ZR19s I think, and the rears were 245/35/ZR19 as I had a problem with rubbing the 265s on cornering.
Sorry, it's been almost a year since I sold the rims/tires. I just remember that I was pissed when I got them on finally (back when everyone said that 18s was the biggest you could go). I got the 19s on, then found out a few months later that 20s actually have a smaller diameter available and are smaller overall than 20s. 20s will go on our cars no problem, plus their usually cheaper than 19s

That being said, have you tried the tire size calculator? I believe I put a link for that on the first page of this thread or the wheel thread.
But just so you don't have to do any work (yes, you should be thanking me for spoon feeding you this answer because this has been discussed in this thread and you really should read through first), the "optimal" setup to match as close as possible to the rolling diameter of the stock 17's is 225/35R19 and 255/30R19.
Now that I've clarified things, Why is your offset 38 all around? That's weird. I'm assuming simply because you don't have big-brake setup. You'd have to search through the forums to see others who are running that type of offset on wheels with 19's.

I put on a set of P Zero Nero M+S this past fall and compared to my original Pilot Sports, they suck! I went through 2 winters in NJ with the Pilots and although I would slip from time to time it doesn't compare to the amount of slipping that happens with the Pirelli's. Early on I actually had to look at the sidwall to make sure Tire Rack sent me the M+S ones. Now the weather is warming up here and they still suck. Just the other day the pavement was wet, I was at a full stop.. I floored it and it was nothing but spin city. This NEVER happened with my Pilots. The only time I could slip in that kind of weather was if I was making a sharp turn and floored it. Sorry for writing so much but I would never recommend nor own a set of these again.
Regards!

Let me correct you. I didn't say that this was the "optimal" setup because according to a tire size calculator, the "normal" setup that everybody runs is not exact to the rolling diameter of the OEM rim setup.

About the offset.....the front is 35 and the rear is 38, not 38 all around.

That being said, I think the stock rims, from what I remember have a et32/et36 offset (can't remember off the top of my head).
What I highly suggest is using the wheel offset calculator that is on the first post of the AFTERMARKET WHEEL THREAD. You can input the stock width of a wheel (w/offset) and also the aftermarket width of a wheel (w/ offset) and it'll tell you the measurements on the inside and the outside. If you figure you need a few mm of clearance from when the tires push in on bumps and make sure you are good w/ clearance on the fender, you should be fine.

265/35 r19 rear tires (by mistake)
My 2005 C230K came from a racer who had put on 19" BBS rims and Continental tires. The front has 235/35 and the rear 265/30. It corners really nice. But I blew out my right rear coming up I5 and limped home on my emergency spare. I needed a new set anyways.
So this is my problem. I just checked my special order slip from CostCo and they wrote the order down wrong! Instead I'm getting BFG gForce 235/35 for the front
and 265/35 for the rear
. The tire calculator says it will be 0.52" of extra radius. The 265/30 rear tires already fit on the car, so any mods for that have already been done.
The fronts are already here (from Reno) and the rears should be showing up on Monday afternoon (from Ireland!). Will the rear size be a problem? Will they fit? Are there any downsides? Or should I reject them? Drop is not important to me.
thanks,
Chris

My bad. Read that incorrectly. Okay, just for frame of reference, I believe my offset is et28 / et32 to clear the big brake kit.

23mm LESS inner clearance
EXTEND an extra 15mm outer position
Now I'm not exactly sure that this means, but 23mm less inner clearance seems like a lot. I'm actually guessing these wheels aren't going to fit my car well.

Yea, I figured you just misread. Anyways, I ran it through the offset calculator and used the other link for reference as to what my stock wheels are (I'm thinking 16x7 with 31mm offset). I have an alright understanding of what offset is, but I'm not sure I understand the results. When entering in 7in Width with 31mm offset -> 8.5in width and 35mm offset it gives me the following results:
23mm LESS inner clearance
EXTEND an extra 15mm outer position
Now I'm not exactly sure that this means, but 23mm less inner clearance seems like a lot. I'm actually guessing these wheels aren't going to fit my car well.

Hmmm, for some reason, I thought I read that the OEM 16's being 36 offset (but I could be completely wrong, since I never had the OEM 16's).
According to this calculator http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm, 23 mm is a little less than 1 inch. 15mm is a little more than 1/2 inch.
Like I said, if you're having a shop do it, I would ask them first. If you're doing it yourself, take measurements and take a guesstimate of where your new rims would sit.

Hmm, I did some looking and someone else on the forum said they have the same offsets with an 05 C230 SS and had to use spacers in the back. I'd rather avoid spacers if at all possible, but I could've swore that someone on this board had Moven C16s on a C-class and didn't use spacers. No idea who though =/

Are you running the stock luxury suspension or did you drop your car?
