My '05 C320 Sport Sedan went thru the rear Michelins in only 18,000 miles. I replaced the rears with Kumho Ecsta ASX and have over 12,000 miles on them and they look like they will go another 24,000.

My luck with the original Michelin front tires has been better. At 30,000 they are ready to be replaced now. I will go with the Kumho Ecsta ASX again as I happy with the rears so far. No bad characteristics so far on the Kuhmo's at half the price.

I've also had the kumho ecsta asx. Loved 'em. No problems and the price is great.

a quarter mile at a time
if you had the Pilot Primacy's, they aren't that good of a tire IMO

I also have the Kumho ECSTA ASX

Have about 7,000 miles on them. Quiet. Handle fine. Paid $500 installed. Good choice for an all season tire.

I just replaced the rear's on my wife's car with the Generals (265/30/19). They seem to be quieter and a bit smaller than the Nitto NT555s that they replaced.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
You guys are gonna laugh, but I just bought 2 used 225 45 17 Michelin PS2's for the front of my car for $125 bucks with 7/32 tread. Sweet.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

Been running some General's I have on another set of wheels...
they've been ok, but noisy. Looking forward to getting the ps2's on again on
my amg rims.

Just need 2 matching 245-40-17's, there's a couple on ebay, but they're shot.

If you buy Michellin Pilot Sport AS, you should get twice the mileage on them. My stock Michelin Pilot Sports lasted a good 22K, but you're supposed to get around 35K on the All Season. Mine cost $950 for a set of four with hazard replacement.

Michelin owns BF Goodrich, look at the BFG g force, I've put 20k miles on mine. 05 c230SS. Great tire reasonable price. Look at discount tire or tire rack's web sites, not much more than the kumho's

'16 E350, gone: '03 c230k
My '03 has gone through 2 sets of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's in 55K miles, just for general info. I'm looking to get a little more on this next set through proper rotation/inflation (in-laws had the car before us). I almost went staggered (245's in back), but decided against it just so I could rotate and try to get some more miles out of them.

I decided to go with the Pilot Sprt A/S's again because I really like the feel of the tire. The Michelin Hydromax's on my wife's Caravan are a little stiff, but they do hold in water/puddles very well - the Hydromax's are supposed to have like a 90,000 mile warranty. I have some Kumho MX's on my Porche and they seem pretty nice, especially for the money, but will probably go to some Goodyears next time. I've heard/seen good/bad on the Kumho's, depending on the model. Also hear good things about the Falken, and the Falken and Kumho's seem to be compared to each other quite a bit. Had a set of Toyo proxes on a Z car I used to own and liked them a lot.

Tires are very subjective, and it realy depends on what you want or are looking for. If you really want more treadlife, enough to sacrifice a little comfort/handling, I'd suggest going with the Kumho's or Falken's.

I suppose I don't understand why you would buy Kumho's when you buy expensive cars like this. I've always bought PS2's and I prefer the performance aspect rather than saving a few hundred dollars.

Tire sizing help

So I bought new wheels, the fronts are 18x8.5 and the rears are 18x9.5. My stock tire sizing is 205/55/16 and I want to know what tire sizing is closest to the stock diameter. I went on a few tire sizing sites and gotten 225/40/18 for the fronts and 255/35/18 for the rears. Anyone have any input? I have no idea when it comes to tires

noob tire help question

I'm about to get new tires for my 18x9.5" Monoblocks, originnaly they had P245/45/ZR18 and I'm wondering if P245/40/ZR18 would fit? The aspect ratio will be 5 less then original, is this OK?

235 will be too small on a 9.5" rim. i would go with 255/35s if you could.

Check the Aftermarket/DIY sticky thread. There's a tire discussion thread that I've merged your thread with.
LINK: AFTERMARKET & OEM MODIFICATIONS / DIY - FAQ's

But to answer your question specifically, were the Monoblock VI's on another w203? The 245/45R18 is a tire size I haven't heard used on the w203 before.

In fact, going 245/40R18 would be more ideal for the w203 based on calculations. I'm assuming this is for a non-staggered setup.

-edit- forgot to mention that the "rubbing" factor would also have to come into consideration when running 245's up front.

thanks for the reply drexappeal and rlee02135,

They are monoblock Aero style II from a W140. My car is not lowered so they said there won't be major rubbing problems, only when I do full turns. I need a tire that doesn't buldge out too much, so I'm going with toyo tires and using 5mm spacers. All this is without lowering though.

I'm already running 245/45r18 in the back and they are fine.

Thanks.

Try Tire Rack. They list installers. They also show those who use the Hunter GSP9700.

I went by the shop(2675 Dawson) today around 11:30am and the place was closed. All I saw was a truck blocking the driveway, warning people not to park there cars in here or they'll be towed.I tried calling, but no answer,it just kept ringing.

Did they go out of business or move???

Still looking for a shop around the South Bay area to mount my rims & tires.
