Well when I put the new surrounds in, I had to give them a lot of force in order for them to go in all the way, and also I read on the other thread or an older thread, i foget, to put the surrounds on first. For instance I had to put all my weight on them, then you can screw the pins to make them level with each other. Still you have to be careful not to make any scratches...I did these during the space between my classes so I used my sweatshirt over my hands and just pushed very hard on the surrounds...with a good force being needed, the pins would sort of prevent getting good leverage and possibly cause a huge streak down it if you knick it good enough

Yeh the surrounds went on fine ... its just finding something to screw in thpins down to the correct level..... that will not scratch them that I need to figure out now

The are actually Chrome and black AMG pin, I am thinking maybee wrap a lot of Tape around them and then try pliers.......

I would think just make sure your fingers are clean and screw them in, then wipe down with a microfiber or cotton towel? or use some black stretchy gloves

These are the pins ..... the problem is that is that it is far to hard to screw them down all the way to be flush with the surrounds with your fingers ..... and pliers rip up the chrome top lip no matter how much material I put in between them and the pliers

Any suggestions at all on how to screw them down without marking them would be appreciated

OHH ok I see what you mean...those are very nice by the way....basically I think you wanna make sure your doors are unlocked....only when you lock the doors should they be flush with the surrounds...that way your arm will not hit them or no one can play with them while the car is in motion....but when the car is unlocked they should look like it is unlocked...you get what I'm sayin?

check this listing on ebay...there is an ok pic with the beige interior of how it sorta should look when the doors are locked...but in the other pics you can see what it looks like when unlocked...I bought mine from this seller...

lol ... I am screwing it down when it is unlocked :p

and they screw on with finger until a point .... then pliers is the ONLY way that they are moving down the last 3-4mm or so to make them flush with the surounds when it is locked

Any ingenious ides to grip them without marking them ?

yeah basically you might have to lock and unlock a bunch of times until your levelness with the surrounds is at your satisfaction, thats how I did it..

Basically, what i think the issue is, is that the amount of thread in our sets of pins are different...yours probably have more thread and screw in more than mine....you may not need to screw in all the way, but you dont want them to be loose or rattle...hopefully you can get them to settle ok...but that is probably the issue...

'07 OEM Door pin removal

Hi

I have recently got a 07 W203. I had a Brabus door pin which I have put on my W202 before. However, I found out that the 07 pin was different than the W202 US Spec Pin i had before. I tried to search on related info but those applicable are with the older W203 which shared the same pins with the W202. Anyone attempted or has any idea how to remove the pins and change it? It seems impossible to take out compare to the old one.

Thanks

It doesn't work and I can vouch for that. I have a 2007 C350 and my lil bro has the 2006 C350 and both door pins are completely different.

I agree. I tried removing mine this weekend on my 07, and they wont budge, even with a pair of pliers on the pins. I hate to take the door panels off to see what is going on. Not sure if they glue them on, or they are press on.

It does work, you just have to use some force, a lot more than the 04 models. I think they used a bit of glue but it does come off.

I guess I should have pointed out that I used pliers, BUT I didn't use a lot of force. My car is not even a week old, so I was nervous about breaking something, so I stopped. Maybe I'll try again with a little more force. I may wait and see your dealer says

is SOLD
the door pins are different, but the way they're on is the same. i have the ones that look like golf tee's. the golf tee's have better grip to twist because of the design whereas you probably have to use more force.

Sorry this is a bit OT, but does anyone have any idea why they changed the ones for 07? No offense to 07 owners, but they are much uglier IMO.
