That's a pic with the lock open...

The back pins fit perfectly flush. The fronts are just a cm or so higher, and that's b/c the golf tees are set higher as well...

Okay, so currently, I have the CLK door pins that have to be pushed on (not screwed on).

I'm assuming I can just pull these off with pliers, is that right?

Is there any possibility this will mess up the locking system at all?

Has anybody else taken off the CLK pins from their w203 before? And for those who have, how easy was it to take them off?

I just want to make sure because I just ordered the aluminum door pins from Jerry at formymercedes.com and will be swapping out the pins on either Saturday or Monday (depending on when they get to me).

Aluminum Door Pin Surrounds?

So I was browsing through formymercedes and saw that they now offer aluminum door pin surrounds for the w203. I have the aluminum door pins that they sell, and I think this'll make them look even better (although they seem kind of pricey for what they are). Does anyone have these door pin surrounds? Is it a simple pull out and push in to install? Thanks!

I definitely agree w/ you on both accounts...they definitely look nice, but they also definitely seem a little pricey considering they're pretty small. Formymercedes also raised the price of the door pins, I think they were $27 now they're $30.

Yeah I have them. I agree, they are pricey for what they are. But they look good. Its easy to install the pin surrounds. I do have a tip for you if you buy them and want to install them. First you will have to remove the door pins. Once you have done that then remove the plastic surround ring that came with the car. Then put the aluminum ring on. Now comes my tip for you. Do not under any circumstances lock the door while the door pins are off. If you do then you risk the metal piece the door pins screws on getting lost in the door and not coming out through the whole when you unlock it.

Nice, thanks. How was the removal of the old surround? was it just a simple pull out with pliers?

hmm... would you just machine it with a cnc? or do you have something to dip the plastic in? if it's the latter, I want to try making aluminum door grab handles...

Removing them was simple. I used a thin knife ane easily took off a corner and then was able to pull it out. Just becareful not to cut or hit anything by mistake

I ordered and installed these about 2 weeks ago..they look great but I cont. to have a rattle come just from the pass. side door.
I know its the metal pin hitting the surround and I can wiggle it to make it stop but the rattle usually reappears the next time I drive and have to do the whole wiggle trick again to make it stop

Anyone have any suggestions to make it stop ?
(Neither the pin or surround seem loose and the gap between the two seems too small to fit anything between to act as a buffer)

cool, thanks for letting us know. you basically made the decision for me. I don't think I could stand the rattle if I put it in wrong. So I'm just going to hold off getting this. thanks

Yea..thought I had the problem beat since that one side was being good for the last 3 days or so and not rattling but it showed its ugly head again today :v

Still baffles me why only the right side rattles no matter how many times I readjust it while the left has never rattled since I installed the pair..

nice pics nlpamg...
might consider doing this mod, despite the high cost.
Wonder if some $0.32 washers from HOME DEPOT might do the same trick ???

Guys..it's only $30...

Carlos,
Are you talking about attaching the washers to the top of the stock surrounds?

nahh, more of a pathetic attempt at a joke, but nevermind...
just stating that the surrounds look like simple washers.

my mod bug is so outrageous, that I'll probably go for the $30 surrounds.
Really makes the alum door pins look good.
