Afraid I can't help, but bump for you. I sent an email to MBUSA two weeks ago and still have no reply. Luckily, my local stealership said my '05 was listed on the campaign, so getting the work done in two weeks.

Edit: finally got a reply via email from Maria at MBUSA saying my 2005 as already on the campaign, and to go to my local dealer to get it completed.

I stopped at my local MB dealer the other day to see if there was any open recalls on my 02 Coupe and they told me that there was on the camshaft solenoid. They are taking care of it on Wednesday

REALLY?!?! The 2005s are on this list now...please confirm. I added the pig tails and check every oil change - but this is news to me! Thanks!

All I can say is my 2005 was already on the list, confirmed at my stealership and the email reply from MBUSA. They wouldn't say if EVERY 2005 was on the list, but mine was. I have seen many other posts from 2005 owners that their 2005 was also already on the list and they got the work done, though some only got the connectors/extensions wires and not anything else.

So everything points that the 2005's have been added, but the amount of parts you get at the dealership may vary. Even if it is not on the list, a quick email to MBUSA should get your car added/or confirm that it is already on there.

I am hoping that I get new cam sensors, o-rings, and isolaters, since both my cam sensors are leaking. I'm going to ask them to check all the other connections (ECU, O2 sensers, etc) and see if the oil has migrated through the rest of the harness. If it has, maybe they will replace all affected parts under the campaign.

Will report back 31Aug after I have the work done.

I only had to casually ask MBUSA to add my 05 to the campaign and they did it. But I had added pigtails at 40-something thousand miles and so all I got were new pigtails.

Just got back from the stealership. All I got where the new pigtails/harness extensions, and got to keep my leaking sensors. Better than nothing, but I should have just gotten the extensions years ago since now there is no telling what damage is already done inside the harness.

This is all I got also. I popped off the cover when I got home after reading the invoice that had listed "starter line" and "zip tie" but they detailed my car while they were at it not bad for free

Guys,
I had paid for replacing the engine harness due to oil leaking there. (this apparently was before they added my car to recall list)
Then I went to dealer several months ago to discover that they added 2005's to the recall.

Do you think I have a chance to get a refund from MBUSA since it's the oil leak from the recalled items that affected the harness?
And how does one talk to MBUSA?

I went to the MBUSA website and clicked on the "Contact" tab which led to a page you can email them directly. Took almost two weeks to get a reply, but that worked.

I would definitely try, since there is a chance they may pay for the repair, since they have admitted there is a problem by adding the 2005 to the recall. Good luck!

Yes, a free car wash and the extensions for free isn't bad, but I wish I had gotten it done before they started leaking into the harness.

While I was in the waiting room, I was drinking all the Keureg coffee, Coke, and pastries, so I left with a caffeine/sugar high!

MB Canada still maintains that the problem/defect does not exist. I've replaced with the pig tails and an extra solenoid which was "leaking" even though there is no such 'problem' with this item

Hi Glyn

Hope this helps, I was able to track down the TSB that was issued through NHTSA website, here is the link below:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/tsbs/ts...intVersion=YES

It is the first 2 listed on that page, hope that helps. Please keep us updated.

Thanks

Exactly the same is happening with my 2003 C200 Kompressor Estate - I think the engine is E18ML. Harness replacement, O2 sensor, Camshaft sensors. Does anyone know of a recall on this model?

Hey guys,
after a short trip (~400mi) I noticed a slight oil leak (sweating?) at my camshaft solenoids, and also traces of slight coolant seepage at thermostat housing.
With my normal driving, I do not think I saw any leaks before. Certainly not the coolant.

The solenoids were replaced about 25k miles ago, and thermostat and o-ring 2 years ago.
I have the pig tails on the connectors.

Is it something serious or do I just wipe it off and keep driving it as usual?
The car is at 129k miles now.

the danger is not the leaking around the magnet but rather into the wiring. To me it does not look bad at all, maybe snug up the three bolts a bit, or buy a new O-ring and clean up around the area

doesnt look too bad.. I'd clean it and tighten it up and see if it leaks again.

OK thanks for the advice guys, I will report back if it gets worse. The wiring appears to be free of oil so far.

Added the pigtails years ago...
I was making a digital model of the m271 for a 1:18 project and noticed oil when I was snapping reference pictures...

So, I popped the pigtail ends - leaking magnets with oil on engine side -but no oil on harness side...time to repair.

car is 16years, 3 months old @ 90,000 miles.

I’m informed that the leak is due to a failing timing chain...any insight?

I always start with no radio or HVAC to listen for chain, and occasionally start with hood up...I’ve never heard a thing to indicate a concern.

I do have the m271 cam holder tool set and plan to pull a chain through this summer regardless, as I hit 90k.

Thank you
