Facelift for W203 C-Class in 2004

The C-Class facelift will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show next January.
Changes include a higher quality interior and different looking dashboard, sportier suspension, different looking lights and bumpers that resemble those of the new CLK, and a new C55 AMG with 367 hp (engine from new CLK55) to replace the C32.

Where did you hear this? All I've seen on the board is that there is no change. Is this applicable to the coupe and sedan? What's your source?

You might want to search this forum. This info has been presented in several different ways numerous times. I think we were just too kind to hit him with the WTLW pics because of his post count.

Price wise, do you think the C55 AMG will be about the same as the C32 AMG or more?

My opinion is that the C55 will cost more.

If I remember correctly, I read in the automobile magazine that is pubblished in england that future AMG models will not have a supercharger but will carry a bigger displacement. People wants a bigger displacement V8 more than a supercharged V6 though a SC is the obvious way if you want tourque straight out (paraphrasing automobile). It's kinda sad seeing the good ol kompressor go away. Anywhow, those bigger displacements are only going to carry 10 HP or less more than the SCd versions or so I remember.

But why can't we have the 5.5 Kompressor engine? That would be serious torque!!!!

no, no, no, he's saying that the new n/a engines will be upto 10hp more powerful than the current s/c engines. and i'd believe it too. the direct injection engines that mb will start using easily make 100+ bhp/litre. and they're more efficient than the current engines of the same displacement, on the order of upto 20%.

I wish I could find an article somewhere but still have no luck. I still prefer a SCd small displacement engine over a large diplacement one since it's cooler and cheaper. But for those guys who buys AMGs, I think they want the real deal.

the link leads to some webpage that has picture of the supposedly new c-class. maybe the tape sticking on the car makes it look so different when it really is not.
