First time poster here, I have a 2005 c230k 1.8L at 115k. My check engine light came on and my buddy at MB Downtown L.A. check the code and said it might be my fuel injector or my supercharger. He also told me he did a reverse vacuum on the fuel line and said the number stayed steady(not sure what that means). He wants me to take in the shop and run a diagnostics on it but I wanted to see if anyone has had this problem.
One of the symptoms is, when I accelerate using the kick down button the car runs up to about 50k rpms and starts losing power like if it was running out of gas.
My mpg's have dropped from 27 to 22hw and 23 to 19 street.
I have recently changed the fuel filter about 2 months ago and also the spark plugs as well as one of the coils in november of 2012.
Thank you for taking time to read this long post I appreciate your replies in advance.

When you rev your engine to 50,000 rpm, it starts to lose power? I'm surprised the engine did not grenade itself!
I'm going to assume you meant 5,000 rpm or 5K rpm. You mentioned that your check engine light is on. Instead of going with your friend's interpretation.
Can you borrow an OBDII code scanner from somewhere and get all the codes and post them here? Some autoparts store are willing to check them for free!

Let me understand what you're saying.

I suggest you just buy a scanner from eBay. I got the Actron CP9575 ... it's reasonably priced, can read and clear codes and monitor the engine vitals. I don't use it much but it's a very good tool to have around.

Ok, that's not so bad. Your friend must of really tried to scare you or something.
Possible causes could be:
1) Intake air leak or vacuum leak after the Mass Air Flow sensor. (This is a may be as usually you'd also get a code for Bank 2 also)
2) Bad upstream O2/Lambda sensor for Bank 1.
May be someone else can chime in on other possibilities.

I have had the car for a year and a half now so I don't know...how can I find out?
Edit: Just called an MB Service Dept. The recall was never done. Got an appointment on Monday to replace the Cam Shaft Solenoid.

Getting the recall campaign done for the car, cam sensors, and I was able to get my buddy to work on it, he found damage to the engine wire harness and O2 sensors all being replaced under the recall warranty. Hopefully this will clear the engine light.
