I tried doing a burnout but with my 18" its just not possible. But at least I can still chirp 1st to 2nd. If my clutch is out then I replace it. If my tires are gone then I replace it. What does that have to do with my warrranty? If my tranny goes out then MB will replace it. Something in my C43's torque converter "granaded" as the service tech stated and blew up my tranny. MB replaced it under warranty. Yes the car has smoked corners with hyper white bulbs and a AMG badge. It is not riced out. And they did not give me any problems even thou I do race it on and off the track. I drive it hard like its supposed to be driven. Call it abuse or not but why the hell am I going to buy an AMG for if Im not going to push it hard? They never question me about abusing the car. I power brake it all the time. I think you are out of line mbtech.

Ok Iceman don't have a meltdown. You are correct. It is your car and your money but remember if the wheels don't let loose all of that torque resulting from the clutch dump at 4 - 5 thousand RPM has to go somewhere. By the way, I have and life, wife and three MB.

I am out of line on this post, you're right. Drive your cars as hard as you want, and when something finally breaks, you should have it repaired for free, no questions asked. What was I thinking?

Forget all of this performance debate.

You can do a nice "burnout" even on a moped. First, start with a damp, not wet road. Find a slight incline - point the car uphill. Pour a gallon of clorax bleach on the rear tires. Let it rip. You will have a huge cloud of white smoke pour out of the wheel wells. I haven't done this in about 15 years, I guess I grew up, but it was sure fun in high school.

Oh man, we had some good times with bleach in my high school parking lot. The most memorable one was a friend's Saturn SL1. It didn't have a working parking brake (front wheel drive), so in order to get the car to do a burnout, we had about 10 guys stand behind the car and grab anywhere they could (bumper, fender, trunklid) to hold the car in one place. So everybody grabs on, Brian puts the front tires in the bleach puddle, revs it up to about 4 grand and drops the clutch. Instant smoke-show, billowing out of the wheelwells. After about 20 seconds, the rear bumper fascia lets loose, ripping completely off the car. Everybody releases their grip, the Saturn rockets down the parking lot, sans bumper.

Despite sharing a name with the mighty rocket which carried men to the moon, a Saturn car has never "rocketed" anywhere.

Was the bumper repair covered under warranttee?

Hey benzy I wonder if thats a world record or something. The first person to ever blow the rings on the new C - Coupe series award goes to benzy230.

PS I have a minimum requirement of one daily burnout.

How to do a burnout
1. ESP off
2.Set to semi auto and put in first gear
3.Hold brakes
4. Push down gas (it might now do it the first time but let your tires warm up, its only gonna rev up to 2000 rmps then go back down over and over again. Thats because only 1 tire is spinning, eventually the other one gets the idea and will start spinning too. You will know your doing a burnout once the revs increase to 4000-5000)
5. Turn wheel to the side and release the brakes if you want to do donuts

i do it all the time with my stockies!
Not with my rims and tires

Why, because he helped a customer out of jam and it didn't cost them anything. MB paid for the radio and not him and the dealer gets labor out of MB. I don't see why a dealer would go out of their way to not honor the warranttee even if he knows it's not MBs fault. It just doesn't make good business sense.

mbtech208, if I do black on black ghost flames on my c-coupe would that bother the mechanics. I don't want them torturing my car while it's in for service! Now I have to worry when I go to the dealer. It's like pissing off your waitress and then she spits in your food. If I were a mechanic I think I would treat cars better that were really clean, inside and out. It's a sign that the owner respects his car.

With manual trans is not harder if someone was driving with manual trans

mbtech208 - you are of course correct. There are Charlies on this forum that don't understand the basics. The car does not have enough power or torque.

The reason an automatic stands a better chance (than MT) is that it has a torque convertor which gives you some torque multiplication which will cause the rear wheels to break traction. It also has a low ratio 1st gear.

Breaking traction is more torque related than HP related.

The reason you can spin an inside wheel when going around a corner is that the differential effectively reduces the gear ratio to that wheel AND you have weight transfer off of that wheel.

The Benz is a heavy car , has tall gearing & is rear wheel drive. A Ford Focus is a light car - front wheel drive - and transfers weight off of the front wheels when you dump the clutch allowing the wheels to spin.

Now before someone get's smart I'm using basic terminology. I can get complicated if you wish.

So be realistic - the Benz does not have enough power or torque to pull convincing burnouts & you are buggering up your car - it's your money!

This thread reminds me of the good old days (both mine, and MBWorld's).

Kinda reminds me of this golden oldie: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-allow-me.html

Sorry. Nostalgia time is over. Carry on.

All you have to do is put the car in dyno mode...just search it in DIY sticky section!

Even a C180(144hp) can burn out if you put it in dyno mode!

Put the key in position 1 (between off and the run position) and press the reset button 3 times fast (make sure the odometer is showing) and the cluster will beep and show you a voltmeter. Scroll through until you see ESP DYNAMOMETER TEST (or something like that) and highlight "on" then start the engine. The ABS light will come on along with ABS, BAS, and ESP warnings on the screen. You can scroll through them to clear them out. You can also look it up on YouTube.

Old thread but beware. Dyno mode burnout attempts usually lead to PS failure.
