Your gas mileage will improve steadily through about 18,000 miles as the engine seats in. My 2001 (automatic) is now getting about 23.5 mpg on my daily commute here in Dallas (average Speed 30mph with 50/50 split city and interstate traffic).Originally Posted by mick1

That seems a bit low even for a newer engine. I typically got 25 mpg average during the 1st 1000 miles, then went up to around 26-27 mpg (now at 2500 miles). I have an 04 C320 luxury sedan.

it's probably because of the SF bay area traffic. you know, the first few weeks after I got the car, the display indicated that the car was getting 14 miles per gallon and I was thinking whoa, how come this small sedan consumed gas like a big hummer ? But it's getting better now Originally Posted by jugdishoh1

That's some amazing mileage you all get on your 320's. I'm getting 22mpg if I'm driving very conservatively. Doing about 60 on the freeway and such... It might be from my heavy Brabus wheels though..
all right dudes this is about the poster wanting advice on a car. Not Gas milieage
vdub, you have already made a thread about this. do a search.

oh my bad, didn't realize that at all... I've had mine since day one.. it was the first year of production so I had a few bugs in mine... bad ignition, had my ac motors replaced not too long ago($3k in parts and labor for it, covered by SA's special warranty), hydraulic engine mount went out on me( cause: lowered suspension - covered by SA warranty), Factory Command replaced because my volume knob was getting loose. Anything that has SA warrant on it might mean that your service advisor may not cover it under normal warranty. the AC motors went out on me after my 50K miles.... so I had a great connection with my SA... other than that, it runs like a champ...

The things that I don't like on my c320:
-stock shocks are too soft and need more rebounce control.
Thanks to some real smart marketing who says US market like a softer shock
than the Europe market. They put softer shocks on US market.
-wiper control should be on the right and not lumped onto the left signal.
-Relative roomy back seats (good) but very narrow foot gap for exiting from
rear doors. (This is true to most other cars in the same class as well)
Things I like on the c320:
-Solid engine.
-Solid chassie. Run over the uneven surfaces and you will know.
-Solid transmission.
-Left/Right manual auto shift control is more logical to me than
those system (e.g. BM and Audi/VW) which you have to shift to
a "side slot" and then go up/down. The up/down is fine, but the
additional step of moving out to a "side slot" is not.

this is not a negative but something different.
on the 2005 model, the material that covers the inside of the back wheels got some kind of a fabric in it. I had noticed it after washing my car so I checked my dad's mercedes and his was pure plastic with no fabric.
Just to be sure that 2005 C-class sedans were all like this, I drove to the dealers and checked out the cars on the lot. They were all like this.
The fabric element is ok. It's just that I have never seen it used on other cars.

Yeah, the felt/fabric is kinda weird... I've noticed that as well. I wonder what the purpose of it was. It seems kinda fragile to me too.Originally Posted by mick1
