Got my car on the 8th of august

It's a lease through work:

Car eur 36.249
Options eur 3.700
ipod kit eur 450
ttl eur 40.399

lease 36 months / per month eur 729 (thanks boss)

So far got 1.800 km on it, and the only problem i have (as from day 2),
is that the seatbelt restrain system is malfunctioning.
(Took it in a week ago, and now waiting for the spare part to arrive.)

Other than that I love my car. I came from a Skoda Oktavia (VW brand),
so the difference in driving is huge. The way it sticks to the road is just amazing.

I'm not someone that's looking for speed, so I’m very happy with
my "200 cdi, from 0 to 100 in 3 days"

Also my car will stay “as is”, as I’m not really the spoiler/mods type of guy.
The only mod as such, is that the car is debagged from the factory.
(So at least everybody THINKS that I have a fast car )

The thing that I’m not impressed with is the space in the back.
It's almost ridiculous how small it is.
Also the trunk/boot isn't that huge. (My old skoda kicks the C’s *** in these respects)

However I knew this before I ordered the car and (as E-class was not an option),
I decided to live with it.

Also a weird concept is the (semi) electrical seats:
up/down + the back of the seat can be adjusted electrical, but
the rest is manual. I don't really follow the logic there.

Then there's the Ipod kit: I love it in the since that it's great to be able
to control the ipod through the car's steering wheel, however there are 2 things
that I really do not understand:

Why the hell can’t I control the ipod through the AUDIO 20 (radio) system?

And

WHY THE HELL CAN’T I CONTROL THE IPOD THROUGH THE AUDIO 20 SYSTEM?????

Sure, it work OK in the instrument cluster, but going through album/artists list, is less than perfect.

Going through song list is even impossible, as in this mode it will never switch to alphabet,
and so you have to scroll for about 3 years to get from A to H.

And why no “on-the-go” option? I LOVE playing DJ on those long trips!
But I’m guessing this is a safety feature as otherwise you’d keep staring at the display (?)

I also do not understand why, for the car menus you press on the return arrow to go
to a higher menu, but for the ipod you have the press the “phone hang up” button.
(But maybe I’m too **** about all this…)

Sound wise I have no problems, though the ipod’s sound is a bit lower than the radio,
and I can’t really get the volume up to the “I am a 19 year old kid” level.

Is there anyway I can find out whether the amp was installed as well?
I could ask the garage, but I’m sure they’ll just say “yes”.
(And since it’s a lease, I do not have an invoice which I can check..)

BTW I did read somewhere that the 2009 models will have the ipod kit integrated in the AUDIO system…?

Speaking of 2009 models; if anyone can please tell me if I have a 2008 or 2009 model, that would be great.
I wasn’t even thinking about it, until I started to read all those threads about it,
And now I just gots to know!

I asked my garage, and they looked at me like I was crazy. According to them, there is
No newer (I.E. 2009) version… (No info on the European MB websites either)

To finish, 1 last question:
When I switch the key to contact (so before turning on the engine) there’s a short hissing
sound, followed by a faint “grinding” sound. I guess it is normal, but does anyone know what it is? (Diesel engine)

Congrats,

New style door mirrors is an indication that you have the 2009 model.

My local dealer has just received a few, and I must say that I find the new mirrors more discreet, hence the false sense that it is smaller. I like them.

This is partly due to the outer casing.
More paintwork to blend in with the rest of the car, and less glass/lighting.

 

Those are the '08 old mirrors. What ARE you talking about

At least the 09 models in Europe all have them.

 

coming from a BMW 330i, I feel that the steering on my AMG'ed C-class feels way too light during low speed driving.

 

I like the '08 mirrors, as they reinforce the styling of the headlights. The '09 mirrors don't match anything on the car, making them look out of place.

 

i wish the 08 mirrors were like the ones on the new altima sleek looking

 

Is the base the same on both? That is, the portion bolted to the door. Does the new version look like it could be mounted on the old base?

 

u can control ur ipod with ur steering wheel
turn the steering wheel like how u turn ur ipod ring
that way u can select songs way faster
