tires on w204
I have a C200k with amg sports package, and my car has 17" Amg rims with Dunlop SP Sport tires.
(Australian c200)
Shouldnt they come with Conti and Michelin?

I cant understand why, because they are noisy... had Conti sportcontact 2 on my previous MB, didnt like them. My W204 came with Conti SC3 and again i didnt like them. My 19" Michelins drives better, more comfortable and more quit than my 17" Conti's.
Have only done 15,000 km so cannot comment on wearing capabilities.I have no complaints except tyre noise on coarse tarmac surfaces .

Now I have original 19" C63 AMG rims with 235/35 x 19 VA & 275/30 x19 HA
with Michelin Pilot Sport 2

The Michelins are quiet and ride and handle well for an all-season type of tire. The grip in the wet is good, but grip in snow is barely adequate.
My car had recently been repaired after hitting a bad pothole.. after it returning from repairs i found that the rear tyre width are not according to standard which is 245/40/ 17
but is changed to the same tyres as the front 225/40/17(basically the same tyre in the back as in the front)
can anyone please educate me on whether the rear tyre width is a reason for the car to shudder at high speeds, and also a "humming" noise at low speeds?
thanks in advance.

Where are you?
Back then, it looked like Bridgestone (long before they bought Firestone) was trying to sound Italian with Potenzas and Turanzas.
The Turanza back then (made in Japan) was a vast improvement over the competition, being very grippy, good wet and dry, and had a civilized ride.
I think I probably bought three sets for my W123 300D during it's time with me.
Here I am, still driving two German cars, both shod with Japanese tires made in Japan.
Apart from only getting 35,000 km out of the rears the fronts have cupped badly giving an orchestrated ride.
I have never had cupped tyres before in 47 years of motoring. These are my first Bridgestones & my first MB.
In the distant past when tyres were not as well manufactured & when balancing was difficult a process was devised of shaving material off the tyre to bring it into balance.
I often wonder whether I could carefully mark the highspots on the tyre edges with chalk & take a 4" angle grinder to them !!.
It may relieve the noise which is worse than tinnitus !!
yeah ur right both front tyres are 225/45..my mistake..but the back tyres were also 225/45 which i had rectfied today and replaced it to match the back rims which are wider. so now i have 245/40 at the back..so theres no shudder at a high speed.
my problem regarding the humming noise is not the tyre noise, i suspect its one of the wheel bearings however the mechanic said it had been replaced with new ones all round, any clue on that?

No, my mistake . Should have read 205/55 R16.Bridgestone made in France. Thanks for picking it up.
