Upright Hood Ornament on Sport Question

Keep the Sport Grille!
Replace the emblem with an upright Hood Ornament!
Anyone done this?
how does it look with "2" stars?

I work as a Mercedes-Benz tech and every time I see the two stars its just out of place and looks stupid. Like I said befoe its my opinion, other people my feel differnt but thats my stand. Im even going to get rid of the small Mercedes badge on my hood in the next few weeks. I feel that the front grille star is the center piece of the front of the car and other things added around it take away from it.

Here you go...

I don't love the look, but the aftermarket grilles without the star are ugly, and I enjoy seeing the star from the driver's seat

Why not just look at the steering wheel?

At least it's not as bad as my friend's reason. He uses the three pointed star as a guide for where the center of his car is. >_> Sure...it gets the job done...but really? :3

Anywhoo, I think if you want to, you should go for it. It looks nice, it's the traditional Mercedes Logo, and it's not like you're putting an AMG badge on the car or anything.

My car looks just like that (white too)... at first I was just changing the grill, but then I saw one at the dealership like that, and I kind of liked it, so I told them to leave the standup emblem too. I kind of like to look at it from the driver's seat too... and well... it definitely adds a little difference to all the others around. I've even considered switching back to the lux grill... but I think I like the big star too...

Not for me but everyones likes are different. I always get distracted by the upright star when I get one on a loaner. I have even taken it off on one I had for two days.

It's not quite for me either but it is pretty nice that we have 4 stock options when it comes to how our front ends look before you even hit the aftermarket or start painting grills.

First I would like to say, nice catch in that video. I must admit that I have watched that video before and I haven't noticed that. Good eye!

Anyway, on to the topic. At first I thought it would be ugly and looked hideous... However, it is starting to grow on me. Not enough to the point that I would do it to my car. But enough so that I wouldn't make a pretend throw-up sound if I saw one on the road... haha.

OP - just do what makes you happy. Many people around the world run both stars.

However, you asked for opinions & you got them.

New-be here, so the star and the badge are interchangeable correct? My wife has a 06 CLK350 and would like to change out the badge for a star. Are there any modifications needed to change out the badge?

They are interchangeable - no mods.

If you like it, do it I guess.

Personally, when I see any sort of MB with an upright star and a star in the grille, I find myself torn between pointing and laughing, or just facepalming. To me it gives the impression that whoever modded the car had no idea what they were doing and ruined the whole look. Just my opinion!

even tho it does help to park in the garage lol

I miss the hood ornament from my W203, but having the two emblems on the front like that is just awful. Go for the flat badge

Hey guys,

I just sold a 2013 C300 sport to a client and she would like to replace the flat emblem with the star ornament. She bought the ornament and I attempted to install it (removed badge, removed plastic insert, dropped ornament in the hole) but it doesn't seem to clip directly in like the badge; it's too loose? Is there perhaps a plastic insert that is required that she didn't get? I'm not at an M-B dealer so I suppose I could call the nearest one, but...

I think which ever model of car you have works best with either emblem, but not both. Having both just makes the front of the car look way too busy than it needs to be.
