Oil Change every 10k ??
I know the mB service says you wait to change the Oil every 10k. Is that too long? I know it has the Mobil 1 inthere. Thanks for the feedback

checked my engine oil and it looked a little dark... Should be about 6k since my last change.
I'm considering intermittent changes between scheduled maintenance, would like to hear other's thoughts as well.

I'd think it's ok to stick to MB's service schedule, under the 'normal' driving. My QX4 service says oil change every 7500 miles under 'normal' driving and it's not synthetic oil.
Normally dealer wants to make more money than necessary. If they say 10k miles or 1 year it should be ok.

Keep in mind that the C300 is a 3.0L engine that uses 9 qts of oil versus your normal 4-5 qt engine, thus allowing you to go longer on oil changes due to a larger capacity

My mechanic in Virginia says from an oil wear perspective, 10k miles of Mobile 1 is ok, but he's concerned about the filters lasting the whole change period. He says Mercedes had to settle a class action lawsuit several years back about the filters breaking apart and ruining engines, so he recommends a mid cycle oil change; every 5k miles.

Use the MB or Mann fleece filter and 0- 40 M1. The oil is on sale at NAPA through June for $4.99 per quart. The oil is wonderful, better than the 5 - whatever.

My W204 service manual says every 25,000 kms (15,625 miles) or every 12 months, whichever comes first. Even for the FIRST change (the C63 has a change at the first 3,000 miles I believe, then extended changes after that).
Erring on the side of caution, I changed at 4000 kms, then at the 12 month period.
Appreciate it if Glyn M. Ruck gave his thoughts on the subject.

Change interval for the US used to be 13K miles with 229.5 oils & fleece filter while the ROW was 15,000 Km or 9300 miles. ROW is still 15,000Km.
I have never seen a really bad oil sample at 13,000 miles from a V6 with 229.5 approved oil & a fleece filter where the car was properly maintained. I have seen the oil looking a little tired though.
10,000 miles now called for in the US is a good sensible change interval with 229.5 oils.
These cars have large sumps so the oil charge is not overly stressed.
BTW - modern highly detergent oils are supposed to darken quickly. It is a sign that they are doing there job. Colour is not a measure of oil condition.

The Mann+Hummel fleece filter will do considerably more mileage than 10,000Km safely. It cannot fall apart & has huge debris carrying ability. It's blown polyester. Paper media filters can fall apart.
