What brand of fuel

I just bought a 2008 C300 4matic Sport with 9800 miles on it. The nearest gas station is a WaWa- the name brands are a few miles away, and since I live in the Jersey Shore, the name brands jack up their prices to bleed the tourists. I have been using WaWa gas for the last 3 tankfuls, and my car runs fine on it. Does anyone know of any reasons why i should stay away from WaWa gas?

Wawas should be okay, especially if yours gets a lot of traffic. Around here, they are a major brand, just not as a petroleum company. I'd trust theirs before I go to an independent station.

Our local dealer specifcally recommended Chevron premium. We've been using Costco gas on all of our previous/current cars (to save a few pennies), and haven't had any issues. I'm still kind of skeptical about having to strictly use Chevron, although I do like their petro. Prices here in Hawaii are currently at $4.79 for premium and expected to break $5.00 during the summer!

My situation is slightly similar to yours, only here on the Jersey shore the name brand stations always jack up their prices to fleece the tourists, and they are located on the main roads in and out of the major summer towns. The research on WaWa gas I did by Google indicates that their gas is perfectly fine, but I still wish there was a name brand nearby. There are 1 or 2 that sometimes open up, like LukOil, but all the area ones are now shuttered, and their gas, I believe, was Russian. BP is really trying to clean up their image since the disastrous spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and I would use it if it were readily available, along with the other brands. I too am a fuel geek and am concerned about what I feed my Merc.

Read the info at that link. A recent development is that Costco is rolling out an additive detergent package at some of its locations which they claim will put them in that category, but it's not national yet, so they are not advertising it other than with some small posters at affected stations.

Whatever you use make sure it's additised. Techron is best followed by BP.

Glyn, how about Shell V-Power... I have had good results/performance with that gas.

Rather than start a brand by brand inquiry, please go back to post #5 and read the link. Your answer resides therein.

Shell V Power is OK but recent clean up/keep clean testing in our labs, which we do continuously, the above was the outcome.

Plus - Techron is approved by Benz

Not sure about 93, but the gas station in San Marino (there's only one, if it even still exists) had 100 octane when I was a child (20+ yrs ago).

Chevron is the best
Sunoco 94 and BP are the two I have access to

5000 miles on one then switch to the other......mixes up the additive package to help reduce carbon deposits that get by one or the other

And if not available at the pumps, Techron is a fuel additive approved by BMW to keep the intake and intake valves clean, esp for port injection.

You can buy a case of 4 bottles of Techron at Sam's Club for about $20. Enough for 12,000 miles according to the instructions.

Also note that both Techron & BP fuels keep both intake system including injectors clean PLUS reduce combustion chamber deposits.

Quite so. I attended a Porsche Parade Tech meeting put on by two Bosch Tech Reps long ago and they recommended Techron even back then but no more than two doses per oil change.

NASCAR also advocates Ethanol fuels too.

They can suck it! What I wouldn't give for some E-free gas in my liberal state.
