Transmission service at EVERY 39K miles?

Hi all,
Just came back from a service encounter. They tell me I am due AGAIN for a transmssion service. I thought this was a one time deal at 39K? I have 90K miles on the car.

that's what the book says.

Incidentally, the new version of the 7-speed transmission requires 1 service at 75kmi.

it is every 39k and don't neglect doing it , it could ruin life of transmission

O.K., I guess I was being too cute: are you saying this applies to the year 2011?

Thanks

To tell you the truth, I am not sure but I think it is in the 2012s. Plus I believe that MB didn't put them in every model the same year. Take a look in your maintenance guide, it will tell you the interval, if it is 75k you have the new one. I believe it is designated by a "plus" in the number, same number as the previous one.

My Maintenance schedule states just once AT 39K miles. My car is a 2008 C300 sport. Non 4matic. Is it possible that has changed? and how would I know other then to trust the dealer?

Interesting, the schedule for my e350 says every 40kmi, and the C's and E's use the same transmission.

2011 C300 4matic sport
There are some very long and detailed threads on this forum concerning the transmission service of the 7G-tronic. Short version: MB at one point in time advocated the "lifetime fill" philosophy for transmission fluid, but relented once too many warranty claims came in with transmission problems. So then they switched to the "change fluid once at 39k miles" idea, such as those with the earlier W204 models (2008-9, not sure exactly how long this went on for). Alas, that wasn't good enough either, so now it's "every 39K miles", which is what it says in my maintenance booklet (2011 C300 4M). Then the 7G-Tronic PLUS version came along for the 2012 build, and my understanding is the interval is 75K miles for that one. ALSO, make sure you get the TORQUE CONVERTER drained, it holds around 4 liters of the shared transmission fluid and will contaminate the new fluid if not drained. A proper service will use around 9 liters of transmission fluid, if it's 5 or 6 then they didn't drain the TQ. A lot of dealers are unaware of this and claim there is no drain for the TQ, but this is not true.

2013 is every 70k

I have a 2013 C250 (M271 engine) BlueEfficiency CGI model (U.S. spec). My maintenance book calls for transmission service either at 40k for most engines, but every 70k for my 1.8T GGI M271. So I have the 7G Plus.

Based on what I've read, the 7G Plus takes a new kind of fluid. But I'm not sure if the fluid capacity is the same re: 7G vs. 7G Plus (9 liters).

By the time I need transmission service hopefully the MBUSA dealers will know the difference and service the units correctly.

722.9 transmission prior to the 722.9 Plus should be serviced EVERY 39K miles like ROW. MBUSA is mad & that's why they have so many failures.

Okay Thanks crew. Service done, first time I held off to 45K mi or so. It's 90k mi now so I guess its due. This is getting expensive LOL...
