Cancel SW Update
Hi guys,
I was going through the engineering options and managed to get to the SW update page, i was expecting it to tell me what version i had but instead it seems to have tried to start a SW update.
How can i cancel this?

Cheers, found a few referneces to cancellinghte update
Some references to remove fuses here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...re-update.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...d-version.html
And a way to cancel by pressing the eject button, but since i never even had a CD in not sure what its meant to eject, Tried anyway and the abort button does not light up.
[edit] also removed fuse #26 (Command) and put it back in after a few minutes. no change.

Speaking as a software developer I put the blame on the software. People should not be able to get themselves into a situation like this with proper system design. It should include an option to cancel the update. Not that it helps you out any.

true it couldn't have been that hard to put a error check to cancel this option.
I did manage to get the "abort" button active, but it could not be selected.
Everything on forums say they tried everything and ended up getting the dealer to fix it (or replaced the unit completely)
SO book a time next week for them to look at it. hopefully it will not cost me an arm and a leg...

Try to locate a Comand Navigation Maps Update (newer or not). And then try this:
- Eject all disks in drive unit
- Insert a Command Navigation DVD into drive
- Probably you will get an error like "this is not the right Disc for this operation"
- If not, try to power off comand unit whith the disc inside, and then power on the unit
Finally you must get an option to cancel current operation because you have wrong discs.
Few years ago I was able to exit from this same menu whith these instructions.

Some older systems had the navigation disc drive under the passenger seat, make sure yours is not one of these. If it is you are putting the disc in the wrong place.
When you turn off the system you, must wait at least 10 minutes before the unit powers down to preform a new reboot.
In the case of an operation in progress, you may need to either disconnect the battery or remove the unit to insure all power is removed for some period of time. Even with the key off there is still residual power to the unit for things like clock and memory. Fuse 26 may not remove all power as there is usually two power lines.
Believe it or not, when you open the driver side door on some Mercedes models it automatically starts the Nav system, which remains active for up to 60 minutes. So you probably need to physically remove all the power from the system.

Sorry but you have to put the blame on the user, that menu is hidden by default and not to be used by the consumer. If you developed software that had a long, very specific sequence required to access a hidden menu for developers only and someone google'd it and did it and ended up bricking their hardware how is that your fault? You put it in a place average people never can get to.

While i have tried the fuse 26, i dont want to try disconnecting the battery, i have read more cases of it causing other problems.
Right now im still trying to find any navigation disc to test. Will get a mechanic to test disconnecting hte battery and then if that does not work to find a second had headunit to replace it.
Its strange since as soon as i turn the ignition the radio works for 3 seconds then the SW update screen appears and cuts out the radio.

Have you Comand APS? These steps are only for Comand unit, but you can also try it.
The most important in this case is to try whith Comand Navigation Maps Update (any version).
Why? Because you need to insert a MB Disc whith autorun that will update some of the internal software.
When you insert this disc, the operation tries to install it, but as you will use the wrong DVD image, this will cause actual SW update to STOP asking you for a right Disc or Cancel the operation.
These steps helped me in the past. Hope you have luck whith.
