2014 C250 SPORT WHINING NOISE
Hello all! I am new to MBWorld and I need some help. I just purchased a 2014 C250 Sport with the original warranty still on it (less than 5,000 miles left!). When I begin to accelerate, there is an annoying whining noise that increases and starts back up after each gear shift until after the 3rd shift. It makes this noise even when I rev the engine up in park. Could this be the transmission or the alternator? Anybody else have similar problems like this? I'm a sweet girl so I don't know much about mechanics

I took it to an MB dealer last week and they said nothing was wrong with it and didn't charge me anything after a 27 point inspection. Since then it has gotten louder so I plan on going to a different MB dealer tomorrow to see what this noise is. It sounds like the alternator, transmission, or power steering pump. I know it's not the turbo spool noise. I'm about to upload a video so you can hear.

Those engines do have a slight whine to them even when everything is good, but with the windows up you shouldn't hear anything. If it's loud, they need to track it down and replace the affected component.

This is the second dealer I've been to and they've both said the same thing. It's not noticeable when the A/C is on and windows up but I can hear it when nothing is on and the windows are up. I won't be keeping this car much longer. Waiting on the warranty to expire.

If it's very slight and isn't getting any worse, it's nothing to worry about. These new engines with the high pressure fuel systems are very noisy, and the simple fact is that in a C class, there's not a ton of insulation to keep you from hearing it. The S class engines are noisy, but the cars are much more substantial so you don't hear anything inside the car, no matter what. Just part of the entry level car segment.
The 271 is a good engine, when it works. The cam adjusters are pretty much the only real issue we see with them, and that's usually under warranty time or not at all.

It's interesting how many threads there are about whining, but they all appear to point to an incorrect solution and the problems are never resolved and chalked up to "normal whining noise" or transmission noise or pulleys. There are plenty of videos online that match the description of the whining that people are hearing and the solution appears to be a new alternator.
It appears that the alternator is shared between many models, so this is a noise that appears on many different MB cars.

Yes Please Help. Anyone ever find out?
Ok.. Dealer said a year ago its normal.. Ok now there is a Whine coming from Transmission. I can hear when i change through R N D. Ok Did Trans Service oil flush and oil change.. I know it has nothing to do with original whine which is when i Accelerate and very loud .. No car sounds like mind none honda civic toyota tundra crysler mini van nothing.. But my c250 dentist drill, vacuum cleaner, sounds like its going in reverse but forward.. not power steering whine not belts squealing, But guess what mechanic says.. He tells me my little turbo is making that dentist drill.. he said that he pulled the belts off and it still made the noise and from a device the doctor uses from the turbo he heard the whine from the heat shield.. OK has anyone every fixed it.. from whine to no whine?? The whine from the first video is not the whine I think people are talking about. or the second video.. its more like a dentist drill hight pitched and with no acceleration its silent no whine what soever.. i have looked to find a video with a turbo whining and i can't find one that sounds like a dentist drill
