Jerky Transmission, 2nd Gear, RPMs wild, 2011
I have a 2011 W204 with dynamic handling package.
When the car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear, while the car is in 2nd and shifting from 2- to 3, it seems like the RPMs are struggling, the needle is going all over the place, like I'm blimping the throttle (but it stays in the low RPM range 1-2.5k) and it doesn't "jerk" but it feels like a loss of friction during acceleration and gear. Basically, its not a smooth gear change. But, only in this gear.
I am going to perform a transmission reset.
What could the other causes be? Anything else I should try?

How much mileage on the car and when was the last time you changed the transmission fluid? It would be great if you can fill your car's info in the profile section so we can help you better and faster.

That would be my guess....and first thing I would do. Change out transmission fluid.

These cars need to have their transmission fluid and filter changed every 40k miles. You're at 92k already so more than twice above the change interval.
I would advise you first change the fluid and filter and see if that improves things. Make sure they drain the pan AND the torque converter to get the entire fluid drained.

Anyone on here above 100k miles and never had their transmission fluid flushed? I'm pushing 145k and have yet to change my fluid. Car shifts buttery smooth even when it's 10 degrees out....

I’ve been doing a lot of research and this seems like a common issue on the 722.9 transmission.
I am am going to take it to MB to get a diagnostic and see what happens. Sounds like it could be the valve body / conductor plate. Also sounds like it could be a TCU problem. So I don’t want to change the oil now and have to go back in if it is indeed one of these above issues.

Going to take it to the shop next week.
Over the phone the mechanic said it’s the valve body. He seemed confident. Said it’s so common he does 1 per week .
$1800 for the repair.

Yes. I have a 722.9. Taking it to the mechanic Wednesday. Will keep you guys updated and hope I can get some video up as a good learnkng
source in case anyone else runs into this issue
so. Some backstory. I just bought this car with 93k miles. I just did the sparplugs today and they were toast so I’m gong to assume the transmission fluid also has not Been changed.

It seems the car was not well-maintained at all if the spark plugs and the transmission fluid were not changed after 93,000 miles. Let's hope you don't get any other nasty surprises.

Intake manifold tumbler flap (DTC 0521) $1535.00
Transmission and torque converter for upshift complaint-
Converter $1132.00
Transmission $3430
Labor $1200
I just bought the car 1 week ago for $9.8k from Toyota of SF. With taxes a little over $11k. And now I need $7k in repairs ? I’m speechless. Don’t know what to do. Dealer will not remedy.

How long do you guys think I can drive the car like this for and get away with it ?
the transmission is jerky but it does shift. But the intake manifold problem I reckon will not allow me to pass an emissions inspection.
