There is a much easier way to know if you have hands free. Your key fob will both open and close your trunk if you have this option. Even easier you will see a powered back lit (red) open and close buttons onn the left of the inside handle.

The remote open function is also much slower when you have the powred trunk, it does not do the quick pop up when you remote open, instead its a steady controlled open movement.

Door Handle Lights burn out fast.

My car has already burned out two of these four lights. I hope eventual replacements last longer.

LEDs last forever, so I think you are having a different issue, causing them to go out.

I would guess the same. Probably a bad connection, LEDs last a very long time.

So I'm stuck in a parking lot at 7:30 pm with a trunk full of groceries waiting for roadside assistance to arrive. I got an error message that there is a power steering malfunction! I'm not able to turn the steering wheel. 3182km on the vehicle. You've got to be kidding you might say.... I kid you not. They are going to tow the car to the dealership and then I'm on my own to find a ride home.

That really sucks, keep all of your travel receipts MB should compensate you for the taxi ride home.

This same malfunction has been reported before, and it's not related to the steering column recall ... which was basically just an inspection.

It appears to be a software issue that MB claims they'll have resolved with an update in December. The advice they've given to others is to shut down the car for 5 minutes, and then restart it. That's supposed to clear the fault.

So here's the funny part. When the tow truck arrived. I got out of the car for a few minutes to talk to him and then he got his flat bed truck into position. We started the car to drive it up the ramp, and of course the error had cleared and it was working again! The guy thought I was nuts at first but I'm glad I took the picture....

So I was just told that they did a software update to address the steering issue. They have also replaced my touchpad which stopped working 4 days after delivery....Hopefully things work properly from this point on. If not, I'm thinking the extended warranty will be well worth it.

I hope I'm not jinxing things but ours has been great so far.

Two small issues only ... first one with the transmission when the car is cold and you first drive off. It seems to hesitate when changing from 2nd to 3rd, and only once, then it's fine for the rest of the day, until it's been parked overnight and the next day it does it again, without fail. Have tried driving in all Agility modes - Comfort, Sport & Sport + but it's all the same.

Plus the reverse camera stopped working one day, while it was at the dealer getting a new windscreen (see https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ml#post6242405) but that was also only once and it's fine now but the dealer is still replacing it under warranty. Been waiting for about 3 weeks now for the parts to arrive from Germany.

3 months & over 4,000km. That engine just keeps getting better and better. It's got quite alot of grunt for a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder motor. Gives my 4.7 litre V8 a very good run!

Overall, very impressed with the W205. Huge improvement on the 2 W204s we've had in the family, which were great cars too!

Our car is one of the first batches that came to Australia, before they had East London South Africa set up properly we were told, so it's German built (they gave us the certificate with the barcode that hangs in the window during transit that says "Made In Germany"). Don't know if it makes any difference to quality, might get a chance to compare when we get a service loaner down the track, but it will certainly make it more attractive at resale time as the general perception is German built is best.

Happy C-Classing fellow owners!

I think all here agree the W205 is a well designed car and arguably among the best in the compact sport/luxury sedan segment. Any quality differences between any of the various assembly points is pure conjecture at this point ... there just isn't enough empirical data available to know.

The US built cars do use a lot of locally sourced parts, but I have no idea what those are. The only build quality issue I had was a poorly fit fuel filler door, and this had to be replaced by the dealer. It was an obvious flaw, and one that should have easily been caught and fixed before it left the Alabama factory. It wasn't.

So far. it looks like the vast majority of complaints concern the electronics and the menu structures. Many seem to be software related so, hopefully, this will be addressed soon by the factory.

In my own experience, the issues have been more annoying than serious. A minor alignment issue, the fuel door, the steering column recall/inspection, and the replacement of my front Continental tires under their recall. Just more trips to the dealer than I wanted or expected.

I haven't had anything happen yet that has made the car undrivable. If that happens, it would be tough to not be really, really upset. Regardless, it seems unlikely at this point that the first year W205 will get high points for reliability.

I haven't taken the car into the dealer as of yet but currently the Parktronic is not working
I've tested it backing up to within an inch of my garage door and not even as much as chirp or a light. This goes for the front as well. Haven't tried the Park Assist. Thought it could (or hoped) be a setting but haven't found one

There is an on/off switch for ParkTronic under the Headlamp control dial.
You might have accidently turned it off.

well, im was about to pick up my new C250 W205... but was advised that it will no be longer as they had a diagnostic problem with the car. turns out its the power steering... seems like its a common fault on this thread. So, what was the fix and how long did it take?

If it's the same problem I had (see pic above), then it just requires a software update to fix. So far so good....but for me it had only happened once in 1.5 months of driving

I haven't seen the fault as i haven't taken delivery of the car, however, it has been registered. With this fault, if one is driving and the fault occurs, what happens? Is the steering still ok only heavier?

Of the cases I know of, this fault has only happened upon start up and not while driving. The steering wheel wasn't turning at all for me...so I would say not safe to drive...unless you shut the car down and wait 5 minutes for the glitch to clear.

Let's hope these are very isolated cases and not a recall campaign.

I think that is normal. I have an E-class and it does the same thing. The dealer said it has to do with the emissions certifications. They want to warm up the Cat Converter as soon as possible

I've only had one strange issue with the auto-start and brake hold features. I was at a red light, and the engine stopped (expected), and I engaged brake hold. When the light turned, I went to accelerate and the engine didn't start and my dash lit up like when you first start the car. I was flustered so it took me a while to realize I had to shift to park, then restart the car with the push start to get it going again. Makes me very weary of using the auto-start now...

200mi in on a C400 W205. Overall, extremely happy with the car (other than squeaky wipers!).
