If I then include a 3 year Maintenance plan at an assumed cost of $1200, $733/mo.
This is assuming the current MBFS 56% residual on a 3 year, 15k mile/yr lease.
Now time to start building this thing for SEMA 2016!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I've enjoyed reading posts on this forum and learning about the c450 and in early March I ordered mine, spec'd exactly how I wanted it.
I had checked with the dealer a number of times to confirm the timing for build and delivery so that I could turn in my current car to BMW at the end of its lease in May and step into my new c450. The dealer assured me that the timing would work so I placed my order, excited to see the car in a few months.
About a week after placing my order I got a call saying that my interior and exterior color choices had been deleted from the factory build list, forcing me to have to choose my second choices for both - both of these changes came with price increases for me.
I sucked it up and, as I liked my second choices almost as much as my first, I resumed looking forward to the delivery of my car in early May.
This past week I stopped by the dealer to confirm timing and was told by someone in finance who I'd never spoken to that my build date had been pushed back to June or July. I was pissed, as clearly this would not work, being that I would be without a vehicle after turning in my lease in May. I told the gentleman that this was why I had timed the purchase of this vehicle the way I had in the first place. I even asked him if this meant the car would now be built as a C43 - he seemed sure that it would not.
A day later, after scouring the inventory around the country, I asked the dealer to transfer a car that I found (doing their job for them) with my third choice of color and more equipment than I originally wanted but a build that I liked very much. At this point, I was talking to the general manager because I was so irritated but how this has been handled. The guy acted as if he would move Heaven and Earth for me. A few hours later he's e-mailing me telling me that the car that I want is being driven by the general manager of another dealership as his demo car and he won't give it up. Period. End of story. No offer to find another vehicle for me, not even an apology.
I am stunned at how little Mercedes seems to want my business. I have now demanded my earnest money deposit back and I'm considering what my next purchase will be.
I'm curious to know all of your thoughts or if you've had similar experiences. I'm also curious based on what I've seen here with the news of factory shutdowns as the C450 is phased out, if you all think my car was being converted to a C43 and maybe the dealer decided they were going to take a loss on selling it to me at the c450 price. Either way, they've broken too many promises for me to do business with them. Perhaps it's back to BWW with me.

That's awful. Have you complained to corporate?

On the C450 you tracked down there's not a GM in the world who's a) driving a C Class as his personal loaner and b) is so attached to it he'll refuse to sell it. Forget your current dealer...they've done nothing for you besides lie. Just get your deposit back and walk away. I doubt they ever contacted the other dealer.
Meanwhile call the dealership that has the C450 you think you'd like, ask for anyone in new car sales and tell them you're checking availability on the unit. I guarantee if they do have it, it's available.
Since you're not trading, put together the deal by remote... Email, phone etc, then drive up (or fly in) and drive it home. A demo 450 isn't going to be an especially high demand car with the C43 coming. Should be an easy deal to put together. Good luck!
Out of curiosity what was your first build convo that had been removed from the system? I changed my build color to one of the deleted colors (Steel Grey) during the last few days of March and it went through with no issues.

I then went to Cardinal red with carbon fiber interior which I'd have been fine with had they not jerked me around.
Give the BMW hard look a second time! Find one with the track package if looking at the new 340i. I have gone from a BMW 335 xi Msport to the C450. If you want laid back luxury with some performance, the C450 is for you. If you want driving fun, it is the Bimmer. Lack of aftermarket parts, ie..exhaust and especially wheels (right now only a very few and Mercedes wheels because of the offsets due to the big brakes) is something I really miss leaving the Bimmer. I really think there are some quality issues with the C class yet....20th out of 20 on JD Powers initial build quality for 2015.... This is my 2 cents worth. If you like driving excitement, the new M2 is great, but the build wait list is out until late Sept to get one built.
