So you went to your high school reunion, ran into your old flame, one thing lead to another, you ended up banging her in the janitors closet and it was mind-blowing. Now you're having second thoughts about your beautiful new wife.
We've all been there. You know what? F that skank. Who blows a guy in a janitors closet anyway?? There's a reason you two broke up in the first place. Now go take the C450 out for a nice wash and vacuum and let's pretend the whole thing never happened.
Or, pick up a cheap Z4 to keep on the side when the mood strikes.

Every car purchase comes with an opportunity cost... The cars you didn't get but could have. I usually have a hefty dose of buyers remorse, every time. Yet by the time I trade it in a few years later I have to fight not to tear up a little as I'm abandoning it.
Surprisingly, and maybe it's because I built it, and waited for it, me and the C have hit it off right out of the gate. No regrets at all. I fully expected to be kicking myself for giving up my gorgeous S550 but nope. I still think the S was a more impressive looking car but I never really settled in with that car. But hey...

Hey, how about some mods to increase the enjoyment of your C450 driving experience? Two mods that give me the most bang for the buck are cool new wheels (not an option for the C450 yet) and a ball out audio system. I can point you in the right direction on the audio.

Wow. I just drove home and a trip that should have taken and hour took a whole lot less. I was driving way too fast in less than ideal conditions. ****. I mean what an incredible car. Wow. I totally feel like I was driving very irresponsibly. The worst. It felt so strong. Exceptional. So inspiring.
Sorry, rambling. I don't think this post ever had a purpose.

As for wheels, I've seen some of the dialogue between you and Jim - in a nutshell, what is the issue with finding wheels for the c450? Is it the nature of the suspension fitment?

The car essentially got the suspension set up of the C63 but didn't get the widened fenders, so anything wider than an 8" rim up front either has suspension clearance issues or, if you clear the suspension, fender clearance issues, and nobody is making 8" wheels aftermarket.

Although the picture does display what might be my one pet peeve with MB and this car - the blanks for the buttons. I know many manufacturers do it, and it saves cost, but a few get it right. MB has them in the center, next to the steering wheel, and in the C450, since you can't get vented seats, there as well Too many blanks.

I first heard about the C43 replacing the C450'last night and was really hacked because I had an order for a 450'to be delivered in 3 weeks. I just got back from my dealer with the order cancelled and a C43 specked and a confirmed delivery date in the second week of August. Thanks to these forums for the heads-up and saving me from a bad surprise. The 450 is great, but who wouldn't take the 43 and 9speed if they had a choice?

Maybe piece doesn't matter to you, but did you get any pricing or commitment from the dealer to honor your current deal? Threads from yesterday were well written about the significant cost difference the 43 AMG is likely to be (MSRP, ELW, insurance, etc.). For me I'd rather take the 16.5% discount on the C450 and use it to buy the 7/75k ELW, ECU tuning, and a few years of gas. A new transmission and some badging that can be bought on eBay isn't worth $10k to me.

So I have been going through the break in process as specified in the user manual driving only in E or C mode. But I have been reading the car learns or adapts to your driving style. Is there a concern that after the 1000-mile break in, the car would have adapted to the gentle driving style and will not have the burble, crackle sound and nice aggressive gear shifting when I finally start driving more aggressively in S and S+ mode?

It's certainly never been permanent. As a matter a fact, some people have even said it's as little 40 presses of the gas peddle. I have no idea if that is true either because I feel like it's more advanced than that but still worth noting.

Does anyone reliably know exactly what changes the 2017 C43 are getting from the "old" C450??? I've heard trans (2 more gears) , exhaust , colors and some other things, BUT no one has actually confirmed any of this??

The order guide is out (and posted in a couple of threads) so we have most of the facts. Things like to details of what the optional exhaust is, is still under some speculation.

And you can check out the DOG's in the 450/43 thread, it has all the details.

One more tint question guys ;-)
Local tint guy (I've spoke to a few) says that often with MB, when tinting some water seeps into the door panel and may impact the the body control module. For this reason, they have you sign a waiver to waive them of any responsibility for damage to this module.
Does this sound right and is there truly stuff in the door susceptible to water damage that tinting might risk?
Don't want a 1500 dollar bill post the tint ;-)

That said, I would find another shop. Signing a waiver is giving them a license to be careless. Are they removing the door panels? If they remove the door panes, and cover everything with towels/plastic, etc... hard to see how they can't carefully do it properly.
Some tinters will remove panels, some won't, and some only do it when needed for a proper job.

Don't know about the C class specifically, but I have heard of cases where cars had electrical problems after tinting due to water (mostly in BMWs).

Now it would seem if there are electronics in the door to be concerned with, taking the panel off would appear prudent.
MB wants 799 to do this ;-) I really can't stomach that as a premium tint up here is most 299.

Interesting. First guy I called said he won't touch AMG because of complexity in the door panel and its just not worth it for him. I mentioned that here and folks said run from anyone who takes the panel off.

I would find a good shop that doesn't require a waiver, and let them make their own decision on approach (panel on or off).
I did not do our W205, but did do one of the other vehicles and they did not remove the door panel, but no one had any worries about them messing up electronics.
