I would have settled for OEM 18" rims from M-B at $1200/each but they are all on back-order and allocated to production. I wound up with Pirelli SottoZero 3 non-run flats. I would have preferred the Pirelli SottoZero 3 staggered run flats but there was a production issue and there not available at this time.

I would run with tires that fit your 19 rims. I know it is not ideal but we are running out of time with the summer tires.

I'm still looking for an answer WRT the music system in C450.
For those who already have their car, have you tried to play looseless formats of music files like .flac or others besides mp3?
What kind of SD card can the system support: 8GO, 16GO, 32 GO or no limit?
In Audis, the MMI cannot handle more than 32GO SD cards.
Thanks,

All the same tires from TireRack.
225/40R-19 PIRELLI WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 XL
The tires were a little less expensive than 1010Tires. If I could I would have gotten the SOTTOZERO 3 staggered run flats but unfortunately they were not available. I carry a compressor in the car for small leaks and I have 2 spares in the garage just in case.

uber sucks in my city, and I live in a top 3 largest city in the USA. uber drivers are not familiar with any part of the city. Even if they have NAV or garmin etc they still do not know any street names after you say them or spell them. It's as if any person with a 4 door car just signed up for UberX. I thought it would be different with Uber Black, because I took that in another city, but it's the same in this city. Ridiculous.
at least one doesn't pay more than the fee (other than ubertaxi) so it may take a tad longer with a less knowledgeable driver, but it won't cost more. Uber does provide the routing, so maybe uber is to blame?

Cajun, your web site is great and we can feel your passion for cars !
A couple of questions for you:
- Are you happy with the 19' multispoke black wheels? I ordered the same on my C450 iridium exterior. I like to concave shape from center to the surface side of the wheels (it makes me think about a kind of Vossen style)
- I read your testdrive stats. I'm not used to american measure units
have you tested 0 to 100km/h?
THX

Canada buying advice
Hi all! I am moving to Canada (BC) around May next year and will almost definitely get a C450. I am currently living in HK which is a place you don't get to negotiate prices when buying cars.
So I wanna ask if any of you are from Canada and have purchased the C450 with a good deal? What are the discounts that dealers offer? What is the best time to buy? Have anyone bought with Star Advantage and is the rate good?
Thanks heaps!

interesting.. well, having used uber extensively in NYC, LA and Chicago I have not had this issue... nor in San francisco, Seattle, Houston or Dallas.. ;-0

I live in Houston. Houston is inferior compared to Dallas. When I lived in Dallas, I had no problem with it. Only this city is ridiculous. In general, even cabs here are disturbing to me to use. They kick you out if you try to go some short distance route and are always rude to the passengers.
wow, that sure ain't the Texas hospitality I recall growing up in Austin. ;-)

Inferior -- as in inferior to Dallas regarding uber services. Austin has changed since the 90s. The snooty ness has ratcheted higher... Mostly evident on 7th street restaurants.

Hey guys,
Minutes away from ordering a C450 in Eastern Canada.
How do you guys feel about the Standard seats vs AMG Leather?
I saw and drove a C450 for the first time on Saturday. I had never driven or been in a W205 before. Based on my research, I expected the AMG Nappa Leather to be extremely good. In person, it did not feel or look overly special. I compared and felt a C300 with Artico (beige color) and thought the Artico was almost just as soft to touch - there was a difference but not huge. I expected to really be able to tell a difference. Anybody get the C450 with the standard Artico/Dynamica seats? Any regrets?
I think the two materials on the standard seats look really cool and I certainly welcome saving $2000 over the Nappa leather, especially given it did not wow me as much as I hoped.
Perhaps my expectations were too high for the leather... My current car, a 2012 Acura TL AWD Elite/Advance has the upgraded Premium Italian Leather seats in Umber (similiar to saddle brown) and I felt that the leather in my TL is way softer and nicer than the AMG leather... I would have thought that leather in a Mercedes would be much nicer than a more "value-oriented" luxury brand like Acura... I'm no leather expert but this is my impression on touch and feel...
Would love the opinions from those that have gone way or another...

I sat in a car with the other leather you mention. It Seemed alright. I think leather is obtained by the interior package which also gives ambient lighting and heated front seats. I was a fan of the ambient lighting and not of the dual surfaces of the seats that you get with the standard package.

I agree with your observations. I traded my '08 TL for the C450. The Acura's leather was perfect after all those years, and in addition, it was perforated. The leather in my 450 feels thicker, but is not perforated. I have no idea how it will wear, whether the perforation will make a difference, and whether after a few years will be in as good shape, or feel any softer. That said, and leather aside, there is really no comparing the premium Honda product with the luxury MB. The fact that the leather seats are heated and have the additional status of the ambient lighting is a plus . . . . but initially I had expected the leather package to include ventilated seats as well, and was disappointed (annoyed) that it turned out to be an option carried over on the website but not on the car

C450 vs 340i

First comparison I've seen so far...the 450 definitely needed the 19" wheels

IMO when we buy an AMG model we buy an engine and a performance more than comfort, leather or design. For sure everything counts but I would be much more demanding on Perf for this car than on interior.
This is said I found the leather seats very good but couldn't test the default seats as none of the showroom c450 had them. I saw reviews here that didn't recommend alcantara seats if we have young kids as these materials more difficult to clean if marked

I drove a 435i gran coupe to an MB dealership this past weekend to do a side-by-side comparison with the C450. After driving both, I felt it was a tough call. Personally, I may give the BMW the slightest of nods on the handling (more connected to the road), but it was not enough of a difference such that I would feel that I was missing something should I buy the C450.
I give the BMW a slight nod on the exterior appearance, too, but that's because I like the BMW 4 series gran coupe styling. That, and I don't like ANY of the MB wheels offered with the C450! I don't think I can post without harping on the fact that MB doesn't offer any nice forged alloy wheels for this car. Again, not enough of a difference in the exteriors that I would feel like I would have remorse should I pick one over the other (except when I look at the wheels).
On the other hand, I felt that there was a very appreciable difference between the interiors of the two cars with the C450 being superior. The biggest (but not only) advantage being the openness and natural lighting afforded by the C450's panoramic roof. If I bought the 435i, I do feel that I would lament not having the MB interior and roof.

As for the seats, the all leather will look better after wear than the alcantara and I preferred the look of the leather, as well.

Sorry guys about the acronym. Yeah HK = Hong Kong and ***** is right in pointing out the crazy amount of import tax they impose on cars (not as crazy as Singapore though). The C450 is not available yet but I am guessing that the price would be more of USD115K as the CLA45 is already 100k.
I consider myself to be very lucky to be moving to Canada as a car person
Nvestr r u getting a good deal? I wanted to get the standard seats because I have two huskies and the dynamica would eat dog fur like crazy. Have been emailing a dealer and was told that the AMG seats are not an option in Canada - is that the case for you too?

Sorry I was talking about C450 as for me it is an AMG model too.
Regarding model comparisons: I test drove 435i awd, C450 AMG sport, Macan S, Jag XE S, RS3 before making my choice.
RS3 is smaller category, so even if it is an AMAZING car, it cannot compete for what i"m looking for.
Macan S was all what I wanted (now with the new GTS it is even a dream car) but was too expensive for me (final bill around 90.000 EUR)
I found the BMW a bit articifial and even if we feel the road feedback there is not enough sensations on steering. Sound is good but not great. The interior is very minimal but clearly well refined. We cannot have flat bottomed wheel, pano sunroof (only small one), electric close of trunck... and it doesn't have a lot of torque.
The tough choice was more between XES and C450. The XES is a lot of fun, sexy look, great sound and the best feeling of the road i found. It has few cons: from scratch new model with no usage feedback, limited space on rear seats, average interior materials and high CO2 tax here in France (6500 EUR) !
So made my choice for C450
ps: I have a more detailed comparison table if anyone is interested i can share.
