AMG-Sport is dead. C450 will now be AMG C43

2017 SL450?? Why not SL43....MB is very very confused in their nomenclature. I already find it a PITA explaining what a C450 is to people

If so, it makes no sense to have the base model be an AMG, and have no non-AMG offerings for a non-supercar.
Just goes to show that this is all marketing stuff anyway outside of what used to be the true "AMG" cars. Either way, more use of the same power plants and such should leave to more ongoing improvements as the investment gets spread along multiple lines. Good for those that want to see the cars do well....bad for those who hate to see something better than they have.

Not to mention, has anyone driven our latest offerings from BMW? Less Ultimate Driving Machine (UDM) and more long distance cruiser, aka, Mercedes? So ultimate we need to change who we are to attract more mainstream buyers? Makes total sense.

Oh, notice how all auto evaluators that have tested the older UDM Bimmers (pre 2008 maybe) have said firmly that "The King is Dead?" That would be the vaunted 3-series, which still can't outhandle any GM Alpha platform cars (ATS and Camaro, imagine that!) or a new Jaguar XE.............let alone a Lexus IS F-sport. The wanna-be-Merc theme has also spread to other models. Sadly. But sales are up! Allegedly.
Lexus? No beef with their numbers; their record speaks for itself. And as Japanese and not German, they're not willing to cheat for country-wide bragging rights. They're already dusting Acura & Infiniti quite easily.
Don't believe me? Funny math chart attached, minus MB counting US Sprinter sales. Nice try, BMW.

Call it an AMG Sportline or call it a C450 or a 43.....doesn't matter. 'Cause after parting ways with an 09 C63, I can tell you it's still not a true AMG, but more like an Audi S model or BMW xDrive M-Sport model, if not more along the lines of the late 2000s BMW 335is. Not quite an M3, but damn good four about 10-12-15K less in base price.
Emphasis on damn good, which properly describes the C450/43 or whatever the hell we wanna call it. I love mine, that's for sure. Okay, okay, I dearly miss the 6.2 V-8!! But not that much.
It's a little more than badging from what I'm reading and what I was told at the NY Auto Show. The new 9 speed transmission will be on board, as will a few other small key features.

There aren't many changes they have talked about a higher tune but that's achievable by and tune shop. As far as the 9g I heard that won't go in the c43 it's obviously not in the coupe so why would they add it the sedan. I like the 7g I have no complaints what so ever. I bet you very little will change and lol iu have to do is rebadge it.
I still love the car, but I'm gonna get a little pissed when I see the 43 in person...lol
