Raced a 2006 C6 Z06 and....

'05 C55 Black/Black Lighting, Premium, NAV
Raced a 2006 C6 Z06 and....
So I am about 1 mile from my house when I see a C6 Vette pulling out on to the road going the opposite direction. I look closely and see the hood scoop and realize it was a Z06. I quickly flip a U-turn ad catch up too him. Did not seem like he wants to play. We come to a red light and I look over at him and he at me. It was on. I am alone and Vette has 2 people. I brake/torque up to about 1500 RPM, car is in S put I manually shifted it to 1st, ESP on. Light turns green and I heard the Z06 laying down some mean rubber trying to hook up. As for the ole C55 my nose completely took a dump and I look down and see the damn ESP flashing. I think Mother F***er!!!! I hook up about the same time he does but he already has 3/4 car length on me and holding.
1st gear Z06 3/4 car length
2nd gear Z06 3/4 car length and pulling slowly
3rd gear 1 car length and pulling
If I didn’t f*ck the launch up I would have at least been in front for 3 seconds lol.
We both pulled over. It was the passengers car. He just picked it up last night. They were very surprised that my 4 door saloon kept up. I told them if I didn't have to let my wife think that I may actually put a car seat in the back I would be driving the Z06. That is one mean mother.
Before the flames start I know the Z06 is MUCH faster. I KNOW that it will eat a C55 no problem. This came down to drivers. I ****ed my launch up bad enough to lose. It was obvious that the owners friend was not experienced in launching the Z06.

We both pulled over. It was the passengers car. He just picked it up last night. They were very surprised that my 4 door saloon kept up. I told them if I didn't have to let my wife think that I may actually put a car seat in the back I would be driving the Z06. That is one mean mother.

nice run.... those Z06's are pulling 125MPH + trap speeds..... the only stock MB's that have a chance are the 65 models....

Yeah we both blew the launch. The vette was just more of a car and recovered better. I knew I had no chance but just wanted to see it run.

Really though, Vette and MB are apples and oranges in EVERY other respect.. German engineering/workmanship/high speed stability, etc.. not to mention prestige.

the 65 models have a chance..... I've seen stock 125MPH traps from them.... show us the proof of low 11's or 10.9's stock Z06.... I don't beleive that.... with a GOOD driver, they'll go mid 11's....

I think the 65's will definitely stand a chance considering in the real world, most people will not get a perfect launch out of the Z06 but given that they do, they will be one hell of a race for each. The Z06's I have heard of are steadily running about 11.6x's or 11.7x's, and in my opinion they haven't been launching that great. I have heard of quite a few running closer to 11.5x's, remember these are on runflats. With some headers and drag radials, quarter mile times will be hard to beat, with any car.
The new Z06 is an amazing car, I have heard that realistically the motor is supposed to be rated more at the 550hp range, but thats just speculation. Dyno numbers to the rear wheels that I have seen have been anywhere from 443- 463 give or take. Torque about 15 lower than that I think. Either way, these cars will be insane no matter who is driving, given they aren't completely pathetic.
The 65's and the Z06's are for completely different crowds, apples and oranges, but either way... you could find both of them in my dream garage.

You can still throw both, just one is lighter...besides the "regular" C6 Zxx package is faster than the C5 Z06....didnt a couple of mags say its better than the 911...and shorter...which says alot for the C6 z06 that is based on it. Now i know everyone is comparing drag times however, a faster car off the line and through the turns will be faster than any MB that has a faster off the line punch but regular handling. With that said, the only true german competitor is the 911...since mbs are more of sports sedans/coupes while the C6/911 are sports cars. But its nice to know that the C55 wont be compelete killed off the line....
