Softer tires so you get a better grip. It is really a competition tire, but...
(They are supposed to give the same grip as my Nitto NT01 and that tire is basically a drag tire)
I'll let you know next week.

Cars and boats!
i read some realy good reviews about the Pilot Sport Cups. It seems a lot of the Porsche guys swear by them. Ive never personally tried putting any R compound tire on my C32 but im sure it makes a huge difference, especially on non-VHT treated pavement (if you know what i mean). But in BennyZs case, his C55R makes tremendous power and he'd need an R compound tire like this to hook up well at the track for those 1.7-1.8 60ft times. Great work Benny!!! I look forward to seeing the amazing times at the track. Id put a set of Pilot Sport Cups on my C myself if it didnt rain all the time here.

Benny - I'm jealous of your new tires

I'm hitting the track this Friday. Should be nice and cold out (around 55 degrees). Unfortunately, I'll be running my 265/19/30 PS2's so I'll still have a usual crumy feathered take off with a ****ty 2.0 60', but at least I'll have the cold weather on my side. Looking for some 12.0-12.1 slips.

Also - I'm taking it to a local dyno shop (Silver State Motorsports) on friday to get the RWHP.

Vadim - Mike @ Silver State says hi.

The problem with tires like this on the street is that they are dangerous when it rains or you hit a puddle and that's when they are new. Put a thousand or so miles on them and the tread is half worn you can kiss your *** goobye in the rain.

Also these tires can be used on a track until they are bald and they are still good. On the street you will be throwing them away long before the tread is gone because the minimum tread depth for a legal street tire is like 3mm. If you have the money to buy tires every 2-3 thousand miles then they might work.

Josh,
Look at the bright side,
I've been using AVS Sport - hard compound tires all this time. (My 60' time was like 2.4 - 2.6)
The first time I put on the Nitto - I was like oh my god - holly **** -
now that's what I'm talking about!
At least you've had the PS2 - still a damn good tire!
Good luck at the track on Friday - try to break 12 - fast the night before or something - take out the back seats...
(I've been thinking of getting some nice new seats - shave off another 60-70 lbs)

Only if you drive like an idiot! In the water (rain) even without these tires on -my old AVS was kinda dangerous.

I realize that my car has a lot of power and I drive it with a lot of respect. I know when to accelerate and when not to - regardless of the rain. Under normal driving conditions, I should be fine.
I can't comment on the wear and tear of these bad boys but I will keep everyone posted If you are correct - I will most likely go with the PS2 the next time around and just keep my Nitto for track use. (No use in dumping money every 3 months or so)

Has nothing to do with driving like an idiot. Has to do with a lack of tread depth and channels to evacuate the water away. I'm not saving that a wet road is going to do this, but if you run through standing water at speed(freeway) it won't be fun. Just be careful.

Cool, thanks! Send my regards.

Actually not true. Or I would say it depends on a tire. For the last 50K miles I have been driving on Dunlop Super Race tires - everyday. If propely rotated a set would last 25K-30K miles. I am on my third set and even in the rain they are as good as Toyos R1s I had before.

At half price of most performance tires and with a lot more traction - I love them.

Will do!

Hey Vadim - are the Toyos R1s better than the PS2's? Traction wise, at the track?
