LATEST UPDATE: AMGSC car

Just spoke to MechTech. Still tuning the car but...

1) Boost is back up to 7.5 psi.
2) AFR remains at 11.5/1 throughout entire RPM band.

However they are now reprogramming the transmission control portion of the ECU so that the car does not automatically shift gears when the extra power is loaded onto the tranny.

Jim is excited about what's going to happen next! I asked him if there are any risks to my tranny or engine and he assured me no. He told me that the he feels that once the tranny shifting issue is taken care of. I should easily see 430-450rwhp.

I will keep all of you posted but so far so good!

I am glad to see you making progress. I sure hope Jesse can make it right. Make sure you get that assurance in writing. But that's just me, if you want to take his word on it, then that's your own choice.

Kleeman SC without ECU - S1 Package

Has anyone purchased the Kleemann SC without the ECU upgrade (+$1,000).
How does Kleemann make the power without ECU reprogramming either.

Everybody says it's impossible for HPS to get power without ECU reprogramming but nobody has questioned Kleeman's non-ECU package ($11,000). Does the non-ECU SC package with the stock injectors put out the advertised power?

Can anyone show me their dyno with the non-ECU (S1) SC?

why don't you just email kleemann and ask them? from all your questions and comments, it's plain to me that you're desperately looking for some flaw with the superchargers of other tuners like kleeman or renntech. it might make you feel better if other people have also wasted money on products that just don't work as advertised but at the end of the day it does nothing to solve the huge problems you have with your car.

good luck trying to find any info on kleemann defrauding people to make a few quick bucks.

I was not there today but the lowest was 380rwhp due to the following possible reasons:

1) 37lb Fuel Injectors maxed out per ECU reading (AFR back up to 13:1)
2) Tranny kept slipping as more power was applied (per check engine code).
3) Could not completely disable ESP, ABS, etc...and set to pure dyno mode.

Next day(s):
1) Replace with 44lb Fuel Injectors
2) Adjust Tranny setting via ODB2 DME.
3) Fully disable ESP, ABS, etc..and engage pure dyno mode.

But the boost did jump from 6 lbs to 7.5 lbs psi which maxed out the 37lb injectors.

The numbers are getting better. but why is it that you are running 3lbs of boost more than me with bigger injectors, ECU tunning and aftercooler and you are only makine 20hp more than me. I have no ECU tunning, no tranny problems, running stock injectors and no aftercooler.
I don't understand why you would need to adjust the tranny for more power. Seems like things are getting way too complicated.
I bet your car would make more power with the MP112 blower, stock injectors, Spilt Second timming adjustment, and a Super FMU tunned on the dyno.
I often wonder if the aftercooler is the problem in your system. It looks very small and restrictive, it may be reducing the air flow into the motor. This month I should be able to get 380whp once I add the chemical cooler.

Let see, now with your HPS Gen II kit, you need more boost, larger fuel injectors, pulley, and ECU tune just to make 380rwhp with tranny issues and CELs...........I hope HPS won't sacrifice the reliability of your car's engine just to save face after being shown that they had cooked dyno numbers. If you want to try and attain 413rwhp albeit unreliably, then I just hope your engine doesn't blow up.

It sounds like there are to many cooks in the kitchen, all these variables I'm hoping for the best though and it better be well over 380-400rwhp on your 5.4 liter it should be more like 450+++ w/all these great new mods :

The included HPS heat exchanger (ala oil cooler) in my kit was not so much of a problem but rather a limiting factor, it didn't function up to par...just my 2 cents. I discuss this with both Adam and Bill, so I do wonder if they have improved upon the early production kits. Not much you can upgrade on the intercooler core without having to redesign the manifold plenum.

Robert....if you do have photos don't hesitate to share them.

Thanks for posting the picture. I've seen larger heat exchangers in watercooled personal computers than that HPS heat exchanger. No joke...

Yes, According to Adam and Bill, the heat exchanger you have in your car was replaced with a newer version from a different vendor after it cracked in Linh's car (first CL install).

Thanks for the advice about the heat exchanger and intercoolers.

Linh was present during today's dyno and said it looked like the rpm was fluctuating wildly during the dyno. Do you know how to disengage the ESP, ABS COMPLETELY so that the computer doesn't try to compensate for the imbalance by locking up the wheels even with ESP off?

So since my car was done before Linh's that must mean I have the older version

Hola Sean, I thought it was Linh's intercooler core that went bad, not the heat exchanger by the front bumper.

Yes it was, but I thought that's what amgsc was talking about
The way amgsc described it I missunderstood :

I think AMGSC is correct that the heat exhange was upgraded with a more effecient cooler, but not because it broke on Linhs car. The intercooler core will remain the same unless HPS redesigns their the whole kit.
BTW you are right, you still have the old (oil) heat exchanger.

That is certainly good news, furnish some pictures of the HE when ever possible...I'm curious to see the change.

I recall Jim had the same issue when my car was on the dyno, however my car did not have the "dyno mode" feature, does your? I have heard in "dyno mode" the ESP is less intrusive but not competely turned off.

-Turn the key to the second position
-Quickly press the R button (Odometer reset) three times.
-You should be able to see this screen that displays voltage -Scroll with the up/down arrows until to see the screen that shows the toggle options for dyno mode
-Use + or - to toggle

Good luck Rob, I wish I had your patience.

Really...the HE cracked or the intercooler core?

Intercooler core pic.

Next day(s):

37 lb. injectors should be good for almost 600 flywheel HP. With 380 rwhp you are nowhere near that number.

Something else is going on with the tranny, it should hold 600 HP plus.

Car should dyno by simply turning ESP button off. Again something else is wrong with the setup, DME does not like it.
