Clear side markers or paint? C55

Well, my first Benz should be here in 10 days or so, but I'm already looking at teh changes - the first thing that gotta go is orange side markers.
Does anybody have clear (euro,diamond-cut) side markers on '05 C55?
Did you have to buy c-class or clk-class?
I see everybody is just painting their to color-match the body, how much does it usually run?
Anybody knows a good place in SE Florida?
Thanks,
Max

Congrats on your new car. Most people just get the painted covers for the side markers. You can buy them from Evosport for about $90. For the C55 you will have to get the CLK version as the regular W203 C-class version will not fit. Hope that helps.

I bought my painted reflectors about 2 months ago from EvoSport. I paid $95 for them. I'm glad I bought them before the huge price increase.

Question for those who have installed the painted reflectors....

Do you guys zip tie the reflector bulb inside the bumper?
By doing this, I can can prevent the light from shining through the reflector. It would look a lot cleaner in my opinion.

The only problem is... I'm afraid that leaving the bulb exposed inside the bumper will cause dirt to buildup on the lense... eventually causing the bulb to break.

I can also remove the bulb, but then I would get an error message on the dash. What did you guys do with the reflector bulb?

WTH? Ever since when? OMG that is a lot of money for two dinky pieces. Too bad they don't make the euro impact strips for the C55. Grrrrr.

On my car I actually just left the bulb in. Since I have a dark color (black opal metallic), it doesn't even show through the paint job (+clearcoat of course). Some people wrap the bulb with tin foil then stick it in - but I didn't have a need. And lastly, some people zip tie it inside and let it be. I hate error messages, so I'd rather do one of the two. Hope you have a dark car? BTW - it really is a $20 job, just have to decide if it's worth completely having the cover.

Oh and one really important thing: I used the stock amber reflectors - probably why it doesn't show through.

Hey thanks for the info. My car is silver so the light shines through very easily. The foil trick is a very good idea. I'm going to try it when I get home.

here's a close up of the lights. i installed them myself, pretty easy, but you have to be careful to not break tabs. if you decide to do it, let me know and i'll help.

it really depends on the color of your car. I had the clear "diamond cut" ones at first and didn't really like it after a while. so, I bought Drex's set of oem sidemarkers (he replaced them with the clear diamond cut ones) and bought paint from a hobby store and smoked them myself. cost me less than $20...

here's a post with the comparison: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/121258-sidemarkers.html

I would never pay $150 for the evosport markers, I would rather get the euro bumperstrips from Steve anyday if I were to spend that much money.

Unfortunately there are no euro impact strips for the CLK/C55. Otherwise I'd be all over it right now. But I totally agree with the $150 being too much.

Thanks for all the replies - just got back from vacation - took my daughter and wife to DisneyWorld
I think I'll give it a try with clear ones, you can get them on eBay for like 40 bucks for CLK, if I don't like it I can always tint the original ones.
The car will be here on Sunday (hopefully) and it is Black on black

If you go with the clear bumper lights, do you keep the white bulbs or the orange they come with? On my BMW I kept the white with the conversion.. I think it's probably illegal but did it anyway. Just curious on others thoughts.. thanks..

rollin with the orange for now..

Added new bumper grills, clear fogs and clear bumper lights.. also going with the updated clear bi-xenon soon.. I'll put some pics up soon too..

thought I would add a pic of my last project to this thread.. clear bumper lights and clear fog lights. Got the clear fog lights off of an 04 c230. Thinking about painting my old amber bumper lights to see how they look too..

The new fog lens is about 1/2 inch longer but I think it fills the space in the grills well.
