Is there a specific procedure? All I do is just hold the lock or unlock buttons. It don't work right away.

like i said, my drivers side sensor apparently doesnt work. i have to stand on the passenger side. i stand somewhere less than 10 feet away (maybe a little more). I hold down the unlock button (and keep it held down) and all of the windows and the sunroof will open. to close them, i hold down the lock button until they start closing and keep it held down until they all close. sunroof takes longer to close, fyi (you probably noticed this though)

on the door handle there is a black square window... thats the i/r eye.. like a remote control.. on the new cars its only on drivers door...

and heres a good one... i forgot which cars it works on... the ones with the E class style a/c controls.. if you have the windows open at all different heights and hold down the recirc button it closes all the windows and roof... then if you hold it again it opens everything to where it was.... pretty cool...

"Tunnel mode". It should be on the C's also. Common feature in Europe as the tunnels can be very long, and the high volume of diesel vehicles can make driving through them with the windows down an unpleasant experience. Hence the one button close (activating the recirc) and the one button undo (de-activating the recirc).

Didn't anyone wonder what that little black square was for enough to go crack open the owner's manual?

mine works on both side
downside is that it only works when you are very close to the car.

It is short range because it is InfraRed, not radio frequency like the lock/unlock. Usually, InfraRed is good for about 6 feet. I got mine to work from about 15-20 feet the other day.

And yes, you do need to hold the button for 1-2 seconds before you activate this feature. Otherwise, you'd be opening and closing your windows every time you locked or unlocked the car.

What if you buy the car second hand and there is no manual other then the other manual for nav, voice control, etc,etc what then? R we considered dumb cause of it? I had a new car with the same looking little black button and its purpose was to open the door when key is on you by pressing the button. I posted for those that didn't know such as myself and I get ridiculled thanks.

P.S I bet there are lots of people who didn't know til I posted it.

Hey, hey, hey. Don't get your panties in a bunch over this. We all take some shots (well meaning shots, of course) when we expose ourselves from time to time. I purchased my car used also. Fortunately, I received all the manuals at the time. I don't think I would have gone 2 days without going out and purchasing a manual if I had not. The C32 uses the same manual as the C240 and C320. They are a dime-a-dozen on ebay. I suggest you get one and keep in the car at all times. That is were I keep mine. I was referring to it just the other day.

Remember, we're not trying to bust your chops.

To me, it seemed like this was a feature mentioned many times before and assumed that most people know about it. Heck, my old 2002 Volkswagen Jetta had the same feature.

Hey there c32used:

No problem man, been there done that. Just keep in mind that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My divorce was the BESTR thing that ever happened to me. I found a new wife and have kids now, and oh yeah, I play roulette using my divorce date, the 27th, and have hit for over $10,000.

See yeah

PS: I have a manual, and I didn't know these things, THANKS!!

Owners manual

Maybe I spend too much time driving "out west" but I love to read the manuals to see what 100 yrs of German engineering (and the Autobahn) has wrought. Besides, I paid for it and I want my money's worth.

If you don't have an owner's manual you can log into MBUSA.com and go to the Owners Online section. Join by logging in and you can put your car's VIN # in and at that point you should be able to download an owner's manual PDF for that particular car model. I have been wanting to get a manual for my 550 due end of Oct. and I can't get it until I have my VIN which should be any day now. Want to read up on it before delivery to make the SP earn their money and make sure all the features are working when I pick it up.

works on my 02 C32. Try standing closer and holding down the unlock button on both sides. for some reason, mine only works on the passenger side. i guess my driver's side infrared sensor is broken.
