Nice! now thats a worthy intake mod! Would it cost nearly as much as some of the Renntech ones?

this would make an intake like in the other post more functional, since the "mouth" has opened more for a bigger "straw" lol

Basically, it is a replacment TB that is 6mm larger than our current one.

This should help Stage II+ cars pick up some top end HP.

More to come...

What's up guys!

Sounds like a good project. Will it required extra tuning? Wouldn't this make the car run more lean?

I just got back so I have a lot to read!

yes, you usually do need a retune. Big Bore throttle bodies is one of those mods that can seriously lean out your A/Fs if you are not careful. Big Bore throttle bodies are usually the very LAST mod you should do, they generally produce the least HP / $ and only show decent results on cars that are very highly modified (hence saving this mod for last). Putting it on a stock or lightly modded car would be pointless.

Nice......

The E55 guys have had great results with this, especially modded ones. I've seen stock cars gaining 12 whp on the dyno by just adding the larger throttle body After some mods and a good ECU tune, I can see good gains from this. Even Mercedes jumped on the wagon themselves: all 2007/2008 SL55 have 80mm TB instead of 74mm in 2003 to 2006 models

But how are you gonna fit it, I don't see much room to move things around

Well, we ordered a new TB plenum from Germany and it didn't work.

As of now, we are putting this project on hold.

Hey Jerry,

Maybe you guys could enlist the help of Wilson Manifolds? They could easily fabricate an aluminum plenum with all the necessary fittings and such. Shoot you could probably supply them with the OEM plenum and tell them what needs to change to make it work? I'm not sure what their rates are but I'm sure that MB plenum wasn't cheap either.

CrossFire Forum :

"We had to order the throttle body plenum, which didn't work. The C32 is lacking room and the needed adapter plate will not fit.

The good news is that it should work for you SRT guys. You seem to have more room behind the TB."

SLK32 ?

SLK32 ?
If you can measure from your TB to the firewall, I can tell if it will work. If I had to guess, I would say that the SLK and SRT shouldn't have an issue.

Care to do some measuring?

Thanks for the info! We are trying to get the TT project off the ground. I'm sure that with the TT, will come the 80mm TB. We now have a master fabricator on staff and a CNC machine to assist with projects. I'll pass this info to Erick and see what he thinks.

How's the car running? Let me know if you need anything...members like you make the forums great!

That is what I like to hear! To get you guys really motivated a shop in Delaware installed an STS Turbo on a Crossfire. The link to their site is.

http://www.performanceinjectionequip...mi_turbo_kits/

There aren't any specifics on the build yet. A member by the name of Sub Zero has been in contact with the shop. Here is a link to that thread.

http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/...=11997&page=10

He said that the shop claims over 300 whp and that is the limited (non SRT).
