55 airbox painted and decaled. :)

finally got around to finish how I want the airbox to look. made the decal myself. The decal may or may not be familiar with some.... thinking about the 55 front cover or custom one...not sure yet.

p.s. 32 airbox still for sale

I would of left the C32 air box intact. The ones from the 55k motor just looks like it doesn't belong there. The paint scheme is nice once you remove those decals. You need to tidy up the engine bay a bit though.

De gustibus non est disputandum.

Not feeling it Frank.

Go with a custom front cover... the 55 cover is a pain and it needs to be customize to make it look 'ok' anyway.

Woah. I would have imagined that the 55 air boxes would have been longer, but they appear to be wider if anything. What kinda modifications did you have to make to the 55 boxes to fit the m112? What are the differences between the filter sizes between the c32 and the 55 motors? And are those tubes stock?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. Glad ya finally got this done Im not a fan of the decals though, ehehe

I saw a guy on the xf forums who painted the "bottom parts" of the air boxes and the tubes that connect to the front and I thought that looked really original. In comparison to the rest of the mb community that paints the top of their boxes at least

thanks for all the negative and positive comments.

it is a personal touch for the decal. mainly to test whether the vinyl used stand up to the heat.

amg4ever, i know the hassle of converting the 55 front cover, so contemplating whether or not to do a custom one, but from what material and how it look is the issue.

PC, yes, i am a gundam fan. don't really have a favorite series as i enjoy them all. also a macross fan btw.

trutaing/MJ, tube's from hardware store. the airbox is wider and slightly taller. the air filter is 25% larger than the 32 air filter. the metal clip on the bottom of the airbox has to be trimed off to fit the m112k, but for m112 it's the same process as how I put the 32 airbox in for MJ. looking at the design of the 55 airbox just from how the air would flow through it is a big improvement over the 32 airbox. there is no intake resonator chamber and the tube opening stays the same through out unlike the 32 one which is pinched on the bottom before the filter and pinched again at the splitter.

overall it adds much breathing at higher speed. resulted better than just the y-splitter and removing the intake resonator from the 32 box.
