how to disable error messages

does anybody now how to disable error messages from a w203's computer..? i put on a the RIEGER e63 bumper with the new rewired halo fogs and im getting the fog lights error message. since the bumper doesnt have sidemarkers, im also getting the error messages on those. ive heard that you can disable these messages using the STAR diagnosis computer. can somebody post up the instructions on how to do this..? im taking my car in to change the xenon setting to present for my headlights and i would also like to get rid of all these error messages.. any STAR experts out their..? this would freegin make my day.. for the record, i took my car in to the mb dealership with pictured instructions on how to change the xenon setting to present and asked the drive thru technician nicely if he could do me a favor and change this setting for me using the STAR computer because this is my only car and i have no lights to drive at night.. he said hes never heard of this ever being done before and kept on asking where i got these instructions and that they where fake, like if he was a freegin FBI agent so when i realized that this dude wasnt going to help i gave em the finger and took off.. now i have to drive an hour to get this done.. but yea this would really help..

Halo

Fogs, are we on the BMW forum?
If they were not an option, it won't be in the sds.Wire around it and put the correct resistor to balance the setting for the side markers.

Halo Fogs,Iv'e heard it all nowFogs are for go ,not show.

I have been through star many times, and am not aware of a setting that can turn the fogs off.

The xenon thing is pretty easy and should have only taken a few minutes.

Your best bet for the fogs might be to add a resistor to get the voltage back to what the car thought it was?

thanks loungn14, that answers my question. this will be my first time going through star for something. the guy is going to charge me for an hour so ill also get that netherlands mod programed. i have a set of 10 watt 100 ohm resistors that im planning on wiring to the side markers but what would be the resistor i would need for the fogs..?

I like Ohlords and lougn14 answer about the resister and all other errors may be fix via Star/Das machine

I got side marker bulbs out errors before when I have my Rieger bumper first installed. My dealer disable the messages and now I have no errors.

It makes since that the side markers could be turned off in the system since the Euro-spec cars don't have them.

You might have just burned a bridge after acting like that. My local techs were worthless but after spending a ton of time there and getting to know the manager it paid off. You attract more flies with honey....
Good luck!

yes indead i burned a bridge, a worthless bridge. a friend of mine took in his c320 for an oil change @ the same dealer. he had recently put on the cl grill, of course you have to also change the hood lever that pops out when you open the hood since the grill sticks out more than the oe grill. well he got the car back and noticed that the lever had been broken off so he took it back. the technician had the nerve to tell him that it wasnt their fault and that he was at fault for putting on an after market grill and that they werent responsible for the damage. they should of atleast replaced it or gave em credit for it. i could go on about these a holes all day so believe me, it was a worth less bridge..

stealership is a place you go as a last resort. Its better to go to a independent shop or diy.

i agree, im driving an hour away first thing in the morning to an independent mercedes specialist that i called on monday. he said hes never done it but we can give it a try. im relying on some instructions for the xenon=present settings that i printed out a couple of months ago but ill play around with it to see if i can figure out how to remove those light bulb faults. a friend told me that it will be in the front control module and in the coding section. if we figure it out, ill post up instructions for all to see.

if the stealership customer service is anything like the ones in southern california. Then i can understand you frustation. They were going to charge me $1k to fix my two seat control modules, when i did it for $20. On top of that they made me wait 45min to get my car from the valet. When the car was parked about 2 blocks away.

I get better service at the toyota dealership.

good news fellas, i got the xenon setting changed to present. we couldnt figure out how to disable the fog and side marker faults but that was the least. while we were at it, we got the netherlands mod programed, now thats really something diffrent. i had to drive 2 hrs south to Visalia to get this done.. thanks to Craig at Silverstar Mercedes Service. the xenon lights are freegin amazing when they are not flashing..!!
