Might stop using Royal Purple

Why waste the money on another "strange motor oil" that costs 2x-3x as much, provides no noticeable performance gain (over Mobile1), and provides no noticeable increase in engine life (over the suggested Mobile1)? Lets just assume for a minute that it does provide a little longer engine life- do you really see yourself keeping the car to the end of the life of the parts that have to do with the engine oil? I've had my Focus for 150k+ miles- it's been flogged to say the least. It's had more bottles of nitrous ran through it than I care to count and Crower cams since about the 6k mile mark. It's never had nothing more than conventional oil from day one- it's still purring just fine.
1. $3-$4 cheaper per quart.
2. It felt no better then Mobil1.
I tried RP to see if everything works smoother and it feels the same as Mobil1...imo.
That said, I have ran three high performance motorcycles on either Royal Purple or Redline both with very good results. The Royal Purple lubed bikes did use tiny amounts of oil over time but they spend most of their time at 15,000 rpm and are set up a good bit looser than a car engine. I think the RP blend that I used was thinner to reduce parasitic losses from the oil and this contributes to some loss past the rings and valve guides. It is a trade off but not one to lose sleep over.

PS: My last C32 oil change I used Castrol Syntec 5W40. Nothing blowed up so far, although my hood latch handle just snapped off. Hmmmm. Syntec bad for hood latch handles.

For those who quote others in their sig. line, this one's certainly "sig. worthy" - good one, Fifth.
Walmart carries euro spec 0w40 and napa has a buck off coupon sale for M1 almost every other month

Merry Christmas

Also you shouldn't run 0w weights in our cars period mobil1 or RP (even though you can technically as per the manual for very cold conditions). Mobil1 0w weights pour like water and are way too thin IMHO. 10w-30 or 10w-40 (or heavier) is a much better suited weight for these german motors and will prevent oil consumption so before blaming a specific brand, make sure its not the oil weight you are using thats the problem.
With that said, I've never had good results with Mobil 1 and nothing but positive results with RP but again its up to the end user. I suggest running a thicker weight first and seeing if that cures the problem before switching oils.
