HELP! CAR WON'T START!
Drove to school this morning, car started up fine, no problems. Car sat in parking spot for 8 hours and now I have a problem.
My car IS turning over BUT it will NOT START.
I tried multiple times with two difference keys, but to to no avail.
I have had no problems or forewarnings about this. There have been no CELs. Car has been starting fine. I already had my seat modules replaced, but even if i hadnt, the car is turning over so that isnt the problem. The A/C menu thing reads 12.0V when I search that.
What is the problem?
Just did a search of a lot of threads.........
All I can find is a bad Crank Positioning Sensor? Not sure if unplugging the battery will do anything or not.
Anything else? Suggestions....i hate this....and i have a test tomorrow.

ive had battery replaced three times due to two bad seat modules. battery is NOT old and is not the problem. the engine is turning over, so it is not a battery issue. it is either fuel or spark related....or crank positioning sensor i think.

I know you said that it is not the battery, but I had the same problem when my seat module went out. It drained the battery, and while the car was cranking, it would definitely not start. Try the jumper cables and see if it starts back up. Good luck, I hate how so many things go wrong with these cars.

In the trunk on the left side, there is a 7''x2'' fuse cover. If you remove it, I belivee fuse number 4 or 5 - 15 amp is the fuel pump. I have seen them blow on C32s and C55s.
Good Luck!

well car started and now i'm back home. not sure what the problem was.
went back and pulled checked out fuses 4 and 5. 4 is fuel pump and 5 is water pump. nothing wrong, put them back in. then did a little spark test and there was spark.
and then the car magically started.....awesome....no idea what it was

I think Vadim's on the right track with the fuel system.
If you have an OBDII scanner, scan your system and see if you come up with any P201 codes (especially 201B and 201C). These would indicate that the fuel gauge reading is incorrect.
Other things to consider pertaining to the fuel delivery system (these are known to cause issues from time to time):
A. Fuel pump relay (N10/2kA in the rear SAM).
B. Overflow valve on the fuel pump.
C. Fuel level sensors (left and right; B4/1 and B4/2, respectively).
D. Fuel tank pressure sensor (B4/3).
Let me know if you need diagrams for them.

Good news! Although, unfortunately it's probably likely it'll occur again.

checked for spark and it was present....spark plugs and wires being replaced this weekend anyway
battery is fine....like i said, reads 12.0V and the car turned over
alternator definitely not the issue
if the car turns over but it doesnt start, it is either a fuel issue, spark issue, or a possible CPS issue (so i have read and have been told)

Your supposed to reset the flywheel adaptations when you install a new CPS.... but you dont have to. The car will eventually learn. Have you had hard starting before? Or extended cranking before? If the fuel rail sees no pressure from the fuel pump, the start usually will disengage. If the CPS is shorted, the starter will continuously run until the key is turned off or 15sec IIRC. And if the CPS has an open, the starter will engage and disengage at times instantly. Hope that helps a little.

just last night, it wouldnt start. i would try to turn it on and you hear it turning over but it just would not turn on.
....what do you mean by "if the CPS has an open" ?

how many miles do u have on ur car, if it about 80K the most likely suspect is the CPS (mine went bad at 80K miles). if it has 115K or so replace the fuel pump relay ( mine went bad about 3 weeks ago but gave me some warning, it would take longer to start sometimes, i had a post on it. ur fuel pump relay is in the third slot from the bottom in the trunk fuse box (u may not have anything in the 2nd slot)). if it happens again pull the relay out and use a wire to jump the relay (i dont remember the pin numbers but if u look at the side of the relay u should see the diagram). the relays cost about $20 but be prepared to explain to the dealer where exactly it fits in the car because mine did not have a clue what i was talking about.
I hope this helps
