Broke the Record 11.988 @113mph

Friday night racing was canceled due to Wind and blowing sand. So I talked my girlfriend into going to the track tonight. She is not into drag racing at all and knows nothing about it.

I had here on camera duty from the stands. On my first pass of the night I ran an 11.988 @ 113mph with a 60ft of 1.633. If you guys ever get the chance to feel a 1.633 60ft it is unreal

My girlfriend has never used a video camera and also has never been to the drags. So she thought my time was on the other clock... I have to say I was kinda pissed but what can you do? Made for a bad video on my Dragtimes.com record breaking pass.

Also I totally caught a new Viper SRT10 by surprise, He was getting some wheel spin though.

Here is the time slip

Here is the record pass, And bad video sorry guys If I could tape and drive I would have.

Congrats Hooley. Both tires were spinning on that one. Looks like the car was hooking great. Shifts sounded great as well. That 60' is insane. Monster torque. Let me know when you want to run the best out of 3 for dinner. We'll get some good video for that one. I think this will be the last day for great DA in AZ until winter, it won't matter because we will both equally slow down.

Excellent! congratz..I can't read the slip lil' blurry what were your split times?

Also can't figure how you got such a low trap speed w/Excellent time? usually cars w/stall converter do this...W/your HP/TQ you should be Trapping 116-117 @ very least w/that 60 foot..

1.6331-60ft
4.9518-330ft
7.6856- 1/8 ET
91.95- 1/8 MPH
9.9674 1000 ET
101.97 1000 MPH
11.9882 1/4 ET
113.84 1/4 MPH

Dropped a bit of air out of the Back tires. My air pump broke and My front tires were low on air. the 60ft was so insane (at least for me and my car) Maybe that played into it as well, IDK?

I tell You what I was expecting to spin off the line and when it hooked It felt pretty damn good. Almost made me dizzy, for real.

The gas guy Chuck said they did nothing at all. They didnt even blow the track. To me The smoky burnout helped alot. Also My slicks with rims only weight 37lbs each that may have helped. Not to mention the 522wtq available at about 2500RPMs

Here is my theory As to why my trap was low.

I dropped the Air pressure to about 14lbs in the rear. The Hoosiers Are not steel belted so with less air in the back tires they have more room to expand when I'm going down the track, Creating a larger rotational mass than normal. I get a CEL every time I use them at the track. When I put my street wheels back on The CEL will go away after a bit of driving.

Awesome run man! I knew the car had it in her to break the record. I have no doubt that number will continue to drop, assuming temps/DA cooperates.
Odd your trap speed is so low though....

I got some more tricks up my sleave

Looking at dragtime.com my 1.633 60ft would rank #3 if I was a Nissan GT-R with launch control.

What was your launch method...How were you using the gear selector? Sport mode, and starting in 1st and footbraking it off the line?

Also, I'm wondering why you have such a bad trap speed. I know trap lowers as your 60' lowers, but a 1.6s 60' time is good, but not phenomenal. 450RWHP is enough to trap 117-123 mph. A stock C5 z06 will trap 117 with 340RWHP, and your car can't be 1000lbs heavier... I think theres something else at play here. Perhaps the torque convertor.

Dragtime.com updated the site and removed the C43 in the #1 spot to make way for my C55 to take the official fastest time on dragtime.com.

Records are meant to be broken... so lets go C55's. I would be more than happy to give up the top spot to any of you. Really its only an 11.98. I see some other C55's beating that, and thats cool by me.

I am running a prototype TCU tune, didnt even think of that. I mean a real TCU tune when you rip up your passenger side carpet to get at it. I dropped the tire pressure to 14psi in the rear.

launch method
I got the rpm's up to about 1800 and then stomp on the gas and dump the brakes. Evan (cuzinquick) had some good pointers back in the day. Smoky burnout get both tires hot then feather the throttle out of the burnout to try and pick up some rubber that was laid down, then and look for a line to launch.

You have to remember it's supercharged on a N/A block with approx 8psi. Thus the low end torque is very strong but the top end is not normal with SC cars.

The higher mph is netted from the higher boost of SC cars usually 16+psi.

Look at his car like a 1/4 mile bracket car setup vs a sc setup that are both 12.00 cars. His car would easily get a car and half length through the 1000' mark but by the top end they would be dead even.

Hooley you will need to datalog to see if your 3rd gear can be tuned a bit more for more mph. I personally believe that 60' is hard to beat and goes hand in hand with what I've been saying. Your best 60' will give you the best ET but not mph. That's what your looking for anyways. ET and 60' is king, high mph only means tire slippage. Unless all 3 are inline.

I'm going to do some TCU tweeking this week. See if I can only have the TCU on from 1st and 2nd then stock from there on out.
