evo x vs c55
C55 - 1 Evo X - 0
Now, if it had been modified, that would be an entirely different game.

you know what.....down low is where they are best....with regards to their gearing and turbo/motor size....i'm not surprised at all you pulled it like you did. with a modded EVO X, you will have a little more trouble.....but i bet you still are strong as hell up top against it and pull on a highway roll (55+) even if he's got a turboback exhaust.
But its nice just to have parts when you order it instead waiting for weeks for parts.

either way, the evo Xs are a little slower than the past evos (IIRC), but i think an EVO X with just a turboback or DP won't pull a C55 on the highway......thats why i said just a turboback. i'm well aware how easy it is to make those things fast from first hand experience.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
. He probly thought i was stock too
...He did pull a little off the line tho.. looks nice too
Even bimmers aren't geared as high as mercs, considering they're more for blasting around the bavarian alps.
)My C55 had better tq then my modded X, my Pcar is better then both all around...

saw a "s55" the other day with a brabus replica front end, monoblock vi reps (can't say much because I have those on too...) but he had taken off the s500 badge, put on a crooked amg badge and had 2 fart can mufflers for a civic...dead giveaway? stock brakes.
My Evo X at a local track day (I gots lots more of other cars if anyone is interested-R32 Skyline, Ryan Gates Evo X, lots of Evo VIII's and IX's, Ford GT, ect)-
had a blast out there with it-kept up well with the newer M3 in the turns (this is a 13 turn track)-got stomped on the long sweepers-best I could hit was 128 in the Evo X, 134 in the C55, Pcar made it to 147!

awesome! Personally, I love evo's a lot as they are the best bang for the buck when it comes to awd 4 cyl's but the boy-racer image that is associated with evo's around here is hard to shake. The c55 is a total sleeper
I was just surprised on how easily i walked away from him. I guess I just got used to the horsepower/torque of the beast
People should remember the EVO was designed to be a rally car first. Its designed for traction and handling in mud, snow and other rough terrain not a smooth autobahn.
Most rallies rarely even hit 100mph during the course, they spend most of the time only going 45-80mph.
I've got an X with full bolt-ons pushing out 430hp/435tq on a conservative dyno dynamics. Runs high 11's in the quarter, and is a beast off the line (3.5 seconds to 60). But you guys are right, the 5-speed gearing is not ideal for highway. I'd argue that most tuned Evos will be in trouble at freeway speeds against your 55's and 63's!

I thought about getting a evo 8 as a second car since i can build the entire block for almost the same price what i spent on my throttle body and intercooler parts on my c32..lol.
Unfortunately,a lot of the evo owners i talked to are douches at least the ones on socalevo.net. Kinda soured me on the car.
But i do agree its a great bang for your buck car.
