Had mine replaced... The replaced the bottom half of the seat, needless to say they should have replaced the entire thing because they look two tone from the wear...

jk i have never personally had a problem with mine partially because i've used them twice since i've bought the car just to see if they work. maybe people on here can tell you which fuse is for this (maybe the level lights wouldn't work either if that were the case) or take a power tester and see if there is current going into the mechanism. i couldn't imagine cost on a new one though

FYI, had the same problem in the C32 BUT it was a factory repair (warranty) at the time. Does anyone know if they are covering this under a TSB for the C55??

So I imagine it is a design flaw common to all W203s, given that the new elements broke too. I'm not going to bother replacing it with my own money given that I don't trust it will last. The back still works, which is good enough for me. If your car is out of warranty, you may want to think twice about paying to fix it with an OEM piece. Aftermarket is probably the way to go.
