You will need a C32 to sell for each year you own it, to pay to keep it on the street. I can't even imagine what a 20k German twin turbo V12 would need in maintenance the first six months after you bought it!

S-class depreciates the most amongst all MBs so it's not a surprise plus the fact that it's a high mileage car at 103k miles. don't forget the v12tt in 2003 is the first year model and everything in the S-class is more expensive to fix.

the first thing to go on those are those air-matics. not cheap to replace.

i did have a chance to drive a Brabus 5.8 W215...the S-class based chassi is awesome.

Call your local MB indie shop and ask them what they think on the w220 TTV12. Then ask them what it would cost to keep one with more than 100k miles on the road. You will hear a list of parts and prices that seem to never end. Thus the reason most MB TTV12 prices plummet after warranty is up, you can find S500's worth more than the S600's because owning them after warranty simply isn't worth it.

I have owned my 04 TT S600 now for almost two years.

I have road raced/autocrossed/draged her, and Have only replaced the tires

I have changed the oil, brake fluid, air filters, cabin filters, and front rotors and pads. Most DIY, with the front brakes being CHEAPER than the C32's.

The ONLY part that went out was the TPMS and a crank sensor. Both under warranty for free.

Do not assume that the V12's are unreliable my friend.

By the way, I made the jump from a C32 to an S600.

My ONLY regret is that it is a boat and don't expect nimble handling in a land yacht. It did however take second out of 10 cars in an autocross

And the smile you get beating up on vettes, well priceless.

Your fortunate first-hand experience notwithstanding, many owners of w220 S-class vehicles have had huge repair bills for myriad components, the suspension on the vehicle (ABC or Airmatic?) being a common culprit. Which seems supported by their lead-balloon-like residual values.

Yes the ABC and airmatic can be problematic, but in ALL MB class's. It is NOT an S class issue per say.

As far as resale value, please show me one MB that DOESN'T tank the day after you buy it.

Even the SLR drops like a rock my friend.

Please keep in mind that there are several issues with the C32 as well, which I only had two thank God, aka heated seats and IC pump.

Again, COMMON issues with ALL MB.

+1, i believe this car is in accordance with market value. i wanted to add that i personally watched a silver 05' SLR with 5k miles get sold for 150k at an auction a couple months back. it was the non-ceramic disk brake package.

don't get ABC and airmatic confused... ABC is only on V12 and AMG model S and SL's though I think is also an option on SL V8 models. ABC is ridiculous (as in awesome) in how it works and when you take all those hydraulic parts and push 3K- 5K psi through the system, eventually things need to be replaced. I believe a rebuilt ABC strut (which I have been told is not recommended by MB) is almost $2K. Airmatic problems are relatively inexpensive in comparison

Your car still needed work under a warranty that this car doesn't have. How many miles have you put on it in two years and how many miles total? No one said unreliable but most defiantly more high maintenance cost wise than an M113.

Its funny, last night I almost posted in response to OP (would have been the first post to this thread) warning the OP "BUYER BEWARE" of many of the costly issues that have been enumerated here. However, I decided to save my energy and not post - I know, lazy me. Checking back today, it looks like fellow forum members have conveyed my same line of thinking! All of the largest models of the top European manufacturers are notorious for being costly to repair. Of course, that is no surprise when you look at what the retail prices of those large models are.

This one only has 21K miles and its only $28K! If you want one get this one. I love the wheels and color too. Get a nice 100k mile warranty through fidelity and call it a day!

the shop that fixed my engine issue a year ago said that the w220 is the most common car they are fixing. few weeks ago i was watching them replacing the airmatic on a S500.

How about a 2003 S55 V8K with 90k miles for 19k? I didnt know these had dropped off so bad also... The Eurocharged tune on this car with a pulley is only $1500 and the car is pushing around 567hp/672tq at the crank! https://mbworld.org/forums/s55-amg-s...ed-my-s55.html

The 21k one looks nice w/ low miles, but I think the 20" wheels are too much. In fact, the car looks a bit too high. Are those really factory wheels?
