Problem with C55. Battery/Alternator Visit Workshop.
My friends C55 turned on a red display with the message "Battery/Alternator Visit Workshop". His car eventually ran out of energy from the battery and turned off. I told him to check out the alternator and he sent it to a mechanic and the alternator was bad and it was replaced with a reman and they installed a new battery as well. As soon as they turned it on it still had the error message. After a few tries the error message went away and the car was working fine....for one day. Now it has the message again and the voltage is low ( 11's ) with the car on.
What could be doing this? Is there a battery control module in this car? If so, where.

Has the voltage regulator ever been replaced? This may be a contributing factor to your friend's problems. The voltage regulator is a minor annoyance (well, major for some if you're stranded..) with C55s, E55s etc...
Here's a good thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...hop-error.html
...as well, there are many others....

UPDATE: The message is gone again...seems everything is normal again. This is weird. Let's see if it comes back.

It sounds exactly like the voltage regulator has worn out. It's a normal wear part that cost $25 the last time I changed mine. Here's a write up.

Did the alternator come with a new regulator? It doesn't on a Porsche (both use a Bosch alternator) and it's common to move the old regulator to the new alternator. If it's not the regulator then I have no answer.

Car keeps giving problems. It'll work fine one day, the next it'll give the batt/alt message again. If the car is accelerated it'll work just fine afterwards.
The w203 doesn't have a battery control module or something? My car does.
