C32 SC Pulley Upgrade Options

Hello all. I have been doing a lot of reading about C32 pulley upgrades and I can't really seem to find a central location for SC pulley options.

I read about the C3P SC pulleys, but can't seem to find any information about them. The only SC pulley that is well documented seems to be the one from Eurocharged. It seems that many people use and like this pulley, but I don't understand why it costs $500 for a pulley.

I came across a post discussing SC pulley replacements bought from Pulley Boys, but this was only for Eatons (I'm guessing this only pertains to the C55 crowd).

So I guess my question is, what SC pulley upgrade options are there other than Eurocharged? I apologize in advance if in my search I missed lots of information about this, but I checked the stickies and did several searches. Thanks guys.

You couldn't find any because there aren't any other options. New Eurocharged or a used Eurocharged are your only options. There used to be another option from rcompart (Karmen 62mm pulley) but I'm not sure if it is still available.

Not sure of the company name but Karmen 62mm is what Rudy (rcompart) was calling it. It was offered through the crossfireforum.org by Rudy.

Are there any "generic" pulleys available from some source like Pulley Boys that would work? I'm not bashing Eurocharged's product, in fact, I may purchase one, buy why is it $500?

Didn't you see the answer here:

As to why it is $500 you should first try the dealer for a new SC pulley. Then do some reading on how the C32 SC pulley works and therefore how it is constructed. Then you will see that $500 is not that bad.

Keep in mind it is $500 + tune to take full advantage. But.. $1000 for a simple bolt on 40-50 horse is pretty affordable.

Its crazy the OEM Pulley from the stealer in AU is $1700 (no bull). I almost died when asking about the clutch at $4.5k and the blower itself at $7k. (approx $14k for the whole lot)
I took the clutch to a machinist and had it shaved for a fresh start for the 61mm. I had the 65mm since it first came out up until a couple of days ago with no issues. I have confidence the 61mm will be the same.
EC is excellent : no doubt and to be honest we are quite lucky that anyone even bothers to produce aftermarket for a merc over 10years old. I highly doubt you will regret dropping 500 as it is a huge bang for buck mod.

The pulley/tune is a great deal for the HP you get out of it. You can also sell your stock pulley to offset some of the cost.

I have a Code 3 SC pulley for sale in the classifieds section. Hit me with a PM if interested. Concerning the price for them...........you get what you pay for, messing up this engine can be VERY expensive and the Code 3 and Eurocharged pulleys are high quality. As others said, a pulley and tune to add 50-60 hp for under $1000 is really cheap considering.

You could machine your oem pulley to whatever size you want. I did. I actually made grooves this time and it really screams! My pulley is 64.46 mm and now I just need the tune )

I put on the 61mm from Eurocharged and the ecu tune. I have also put a high stall and now have issues with the rear tyre grip. next set of rears will be pirelli.
I recommend going with Eurocharged pulley and tune, it is worth it.

Anyone (Lenin??) see a difference between a tune with the 65 mm versus the tune with the 61 mm. In other words, is there a big diff in boost between the two EC pulleys. I am running an old Code 3 and was wondering how the 61 mm pulley's were performing??

I have the 61mm pulley and love it. I doubt it's much different than the C3 or 65. Maybe 1psi. Max out around 18-19. I did have a small problem w/ slip on the initial belt.
I dyno'd 344hp to the wheels with H/E, 61 pulley/ECU, and NW iso. My track times aren't too much different than yours. Depends on the conditions I guess.

I only ran 65mm pulleys with 181mm crank pulley. And yet to install the 61mm pulley since I would have to swap my 181mm for a smaller crank pulley. It would be too much otherwise.
But from what I know, 61mm SC with OEM crank pulley is close to 185mm crank with OEM SC pulley. And 65mm SC with OEM crank pulley is more like 181mm crank with OEM SC pulley. So, yes, others saw a difference. The difference also depends on your other mods. Better cooling is a must.

61mm still going well. Just watch for dodgy bearings, Insist on german bearing if possible or Japanese, I suspect there are some copies out there that are hard to spot until you use them.

Not in my sig., but I run the same cooling mods as you since 2008. I was wondering if its worth it for me to go with the 61 since I'd have to get Jake to do a retune?? Knock on wood, my car has been stone cold reliable with my mods (NW PSK, Code 3 cooling mods with IC, cool can and Meziere pump). My biggest limitation has been traction. Damn car just wont hook on street tires. I guess I could Quaife it like some of you guys have and go with DRs on the back.

With a Code3 pulley already installed, save some money and go for the Quaife LSD. That's the only real way to get any better traction and get into 1.8x sec. 60' area. The LSD should be good for at least 0.2 sec. in a 1/4 mile run.
