Pretty negligible, I have since put the stock airbox back on. I only dynoed it the one time so far!

Thanks for the info.........The Bilstein rep told me that shocks/struts for our C55's automatically lower the car as they are shorter in height from the factory right out of the box. I'm not interested in any lowering as I'm running Michelin's 275/18's on the 9.5" wide rims on the rear and 245/18's on 8.5" wheels in the front. I've got a fender roller which was necessary to mount the new wheels. Here's a few pics........

Looks good Rob! I did some measurements once I got everything adjusted to where I wanted it and you may be able to still run those sizes with lowering it a bit- depends on the offset/backspacing of your wheels. But yes I believe the window of adjustment is 1.2-2.4 inches, so it would automatically lower you over an inch minimum.

Thanks for the compliment....Also, your car looks very good and the upgrades, i.e., mechanical/cosmetic, etc., certainly enhances the car and provides great pride of ownership, too!
Well, because of my new wheel widths.....all of the manufacturers of coilovers, i.e., Bilstein, Megan Racing, KB, Koni, Spax, etc., will drop the fender right on top of the tires. It would literally require quite a large fender roll to clear and avoid any tire rub. I also think the shock/strut would have to be set on the most rigid setting, too!

I used to buy my front lips from a company in Walnut but they lowered their quality on the last one I bought. So, after another concrete parking bumper mishap, I bought my next lip from Gary Suvneer (Pomona) and the quality is top notch. Plus, no shipping since his shop is only 9 miles away!

Thanks, too, for the confirmation of the "out of the box" lower ride height as per Bilstein. At 124,000 miles on the clock, my shocks/struts are still good to go. But I'm watching and testing them for leaks/sagging every couple of thousand miles. Keeping fingers crossed.

Rob

One way to adjust the ride height in the rear is to change the rubber bushing on top of the spring.

They come in 4-5 different thicknesses and can be easy recognized by the dots on the side if
you take the wheel off.

amgen.......

Great point...that could do the trick.......would FCP Euro/ECS Tuning have the various thickness? ECS Tuning has them at 5mm, 9mm, 13mm & 17mm height and priced from $5.55 to $10 each....

Thanks....

These rubber bushings can´t be expensive.

These rubber things are discussed here before in other threads, search and you will find!

I´m going to change mine after aggressive driving on Autobahn last summer, they have
collapsed a bit. I´ve already changed springs and dampers (OE) but didn´t think of collapsed
bushings, now I do thanks to my excellent MB-technician. Problem is the tyre can touch the
inner wheelhouse in certain cases with my 255´, I want to raise the rear on my wagon, but
how much is still an open question.

Retail price for the 5mm bushing is $13 and $15 for the 17mm. Wholesale is about $5 less each.

Thanks Rob.

I live in the northern Europe but for other forum members your price information can be useful!

I will decide with my mechanic the rear ride height when I visit the MB shop.

Franci.....

Thanks for the nice comments.......The cf front lip was purchased from Gary Suvneer on MBWorld vendor (he works 9 miles from me); the cf diffusser was purchased on Ebay from seller AAAmotors; I hand layed the cf canards (I'm a old surfer with extensive fiberglass repair experience); lastly, the interior cf stuff was purchased on Ebay several years ago from an individual seller.

Good luck.....

Does it ride nice compared to stock, or a nice ride for coilovers?

Did you end up putting a 2.5mm spacer on the fronts if you used the c55 rotor?
Resurrecting an old thread...does anyone have the part numbers for the larger calipers that will fit the C55?
