Should I keep the C55?

My car just reaches the 6th month at ~8000km milege.

The dealer is asking me to pay USD4000 to subscript to a 1.5 year maintenance service contract which covers free replacement of oil, filter..etc
Or to pay USD7500 for a 3-year contract which also includes an extra year of warranty on top of the two-year came with the car.
So I ask myself if I want to keep the car for another 1.5 year or another 2.5 year?

Anyone C55 owners here thinks the likehood that they will keep the car for 1.5 or 3 yr? And why?

why would you want to pay USD4000 for oil change at the dealership??? just don't do your oil change etc at the dealership. All you are paying for are oil change with those ridiculous prices, all the warranty repair are still FREE. Just go to your trusty local shop and have them change the oil and reset the computer and you are set.

US$4000? for a 1.5year service? u sure u did ur us$/hk$ converison right? that's an absurd number

btw, what is the warranty like in hk? 2 years? or 4 years? or more?

so roughly 24000 miles for US$4000? trust me..it would not be so expensive to do any routine maintenance even at the dealer.

Yuh .

That's correct 30,000 HKD (1USD=7.8). Actually only for 1.5 years or not over 60,000km. That's an offer from the MB offiical dealer where I bought my car from.

This HK dealer price is known to be very high e.g. they over priced the CLS55 to 1.65 million HKD. A simple formula for MB cars is , our prices here is double USA. If the CLS55 is 90K , then here should be 180K , but still should be ~1.4 million not that 1.65 million they are asking for now.

For salary takers here, big AMG is a dream forever.

Tommorrow , I am going to pick up my car. Either pay HKD 3000 or 30000 to subscribe a 1.5 year service contract. I don't really wanna to pay this fortune. Anyone long time owner here can tell me , so far how much you pay for service for the first 2 years , assume you got the car new
thanks

I paid USD 4K for 1.5 year service contract with MB authorized dealer. So I will keep the car for a total of two years i.e. before August 2006 , I need to decide if I am selling it or keep it for another year. By August 2006, I guess the milege will be around 30,000km. The car will will be under deluxe maintenance. I shall look for a local buyer by then.

After 2 years, I expect the resell value for private2private ownership to be best price at HKD600K(USD77K) i.e. HKD290K(USD37K) less than the current price of the new car. (This is referenced to the 2 year old C32 resell price now).

However, considering M3 is always much cheaper than C55 in HK:
[M3:HKD750K(USD96K) vs C55:HKD895K(USD114K)]
I believe a 2-year old C55 will suffer from a competition with the
new M3 400hp if the new M3 still sells at HKD750K.

I guess the big price gap between M3 and C55, is partly because of E46's fading out situation vs C55's fresh launch. Thus, we cannot assume the new M3 in 2 years still sells at HKD750K but will likely be higher.

If the M3 still sells at HKD750K, then my car will only be worth at most HKD550K in order to compete with the new M3's competitive price tag.
( Note: HKD520K can only bearly buy a not so much loaded C320 /330i )

I will revisit this thread after 1.5 years and see if my
prediction is true or not.
Anyone prepares to pay me HKD600K, let me know by then.

This thread can be closed now. Thank you all for help.
