MB stealership extended warranty

hey folks.

i got a quote from beverly hills MB for an extended warranty on my car. check it out:

1999 C43 with 84,000 miles

POWERTRAIN (engine, tranny, transaxle)
Powertrain 1 year/12,000 miles = $2458.00

Powertrain 2 year/24,000 miles = $2991.00

Powertrain 3 year/36,000 miles = $3361.00

Powertrain 4 year/48,000 miles = $3605.00

SILVER (powertrain plus some steering, brakes, air conditioning, front suspension, and electrical components)
Silver 1 year/12,000 miles = $2947.00

Silver 2 year/24,000 miles = $3250.00

Silver 3 year/36,000 miles = $3580.00

GOLD (doubling the electrical coverage by adding more components to those already covered by Silver)
Gold 1 year/12,000 miles = $3137.00

Gold 2 year/12,000 miles = $3654.00

all have $100 deductible. i havent read the fine print yet (this was an email quote), but what do you guys think? the only thing im worried about is the tranny, but with the cost of the coverage levels, i feel like i will just break even in the event that the trans goes. and if it doesnt, then i feel like ill have wasted thousands of dollars, bc my car feels pretty solid. im just coming off of an extended startmark warranty, and had thousands of dollars worth of warranty work done to the car over the years (maf's, O2's, some tranny work, engine mounts, a/c condenser, and so on).

any opinions on whether to get this warranty?

thanks!

Worth every penny IMHO. Probability is not on your side if you choose not to extend. I learned this the hard way with the C43

my c43 tranny replacement job cost me 3400 bucks. i can also name quite a few things that will have to be replaced in the next couple years, especially those pesky LCA bushings and other related steering components. AC evaporators in these cars go too... the diff has to be resealed at some point... the valve cover gaskets will leak soon. the power steering pump/reservior will also be leaking within the next few years. i would just go ahead and get it, youll more than likely get your money's worth.

i hear you about the repairs on our cars. the reason why im having a tough time deciding on a warranty level is i had a bunch of stuff already fixed on this car over the years (under warranty/starmark warranty):

both LCA bushings (first time in june 2004, then again in nov 2006)
AC evap
MAF
front left O2 sensor
valve cover gaskets
upper vent valve gaskets
lower oil pan gasket
differential seals
trans shift plate
sunroof motor
crank pos sensor
climate control dash unit

believe me, i love warranties, and i definitely got my money's worth out of the starmark extended warranty. money's just a bit tight for me these days, but i definitely dont like the freeballing feeling of not having some coverage. i know i need to make my own decision, but i was considering just getting the 4 year drivetrain warranty. i like the silver coverage, but that only goes out 3 years. either way, they say that they will pro rate any unused warranty. i dont know ...

oh, and FYI, i already own this car (bought it in 2003). i am just shopping for extended warranty for it.

If you plan on keeping it 3 years I say get the SILVER 3yr for SURE!! Your tranny WILL fail in the next 3 years, thats almost a certainty.

a place here in atlanta called Carma motorsports did the r/r. the rebuilder was transmissions by ron, who rebuilds for mb dealerships as well, so i got a dealership quality repair at half the price.

im definitely thinking about getting a warranty for my c43 because ive already dealt with the transmission issue, and am not prepared to deal with it again.

this warranty is actually with "fidelity warranty services", which, according to my research on this board, on the net, and with the BBB, doesnt have the best track record. i wonder why MB would go with a warranty co that has so many customer complaints??
