best thing to do is to get another spare airbox doing mods, if you fuuk up, you could still use the other stock airbox

Interesting idea and probably similar concept to the fancy carbon boxes made by ?? (can't remember the name) which cost a fortune if you can find them... I may try this during the winter when the c43 finally goes into hibernation mode. Can you believe I was driving around today on dry rain washed roads... No salt, no winter in the weather forecast either!!

I raised the back portion about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. The sides went up to but not much. Look at the picture that shows the air filters. See how I cut the top or "roof" off? Now imagine adding plastic on the back and sides to raise the top/roof by 3inches or less. I'll post pics but once I'm done with the body work and paint.

Yes I got the idea from that carbon fiber air box (see picture). You're right it's so expensive that's why I just had to figure a way to get the benefits of more air in the box than OEM but not pay such a expensive price of the CF.

I could have also raised the front part of the "roof" but would of been more work. Might have been better performance though but what i did it's great and I'm satisfied.

If you do this make sure you have long cutting wheels so you can get to the inner parts as much as possible. You will run into some " now what" moments but you will figure it out.

Hood closes perfectly.

Easy to contact George aka speed43 and he's a great guy also. Just click on his name when he posts something and choose "send a private message to speed43"

BTW I have his enlarged airbox since some time now and can confirm it really frees up the engine making it breath sooooo much better all across the rev band

something tells me you'd run into fitment issues if you try and use the airboxes sold here...

He bought aftermarket intakes on some website. Not here. And I don't mod air boxes for that car, which I do sell here from time to time.

I have an air box with elbow for sale. I no longer .make them superhigh to avoid fitment issues I had from time to time. Current version still makes Hp/TQ same as the old box and same as the renntech box. Email for pricing. See pics in the first post above.

Thanks. speed43mods@gmail.com

I will say that the Speed43 products are well worth the money. I had purchased the air box and elbow for my 55 swapped C43 and it really woke up the motor.

not only are the products great, but the customer service is also excellent.

highly recommend, you will not be disappointed. I don’t know Speed43 personally, I’m just speaking from a customer perspective.

I have always wanted one of these airboxes so much, but my car is always in such poor shape that I have to spend the money on other things.
