Inspecting before purchasing question
I have a little question here... is it important to have an code error reader (or whatever this is called in English 😝
when you go inspecting the car?As you may already know I'm trying to be as prepared as I can be to start looking for the right W202 AMG for me... I'm pretty confident in inspecting the aesthetics of the car but no so much into the mechanical things... i may get a PPI if this service is available in Spain but before that, I may go and look at some cars and do the first inspection myself... With that being said, what tools do you think I may need to be as accurate as possible??
Gracias!!!

I recall seeing someone on FB who has a 43 and lives in Madrid. Perhaps you should check him out. I can send you a private mail with the info, if I can find it again. Are you on FB perhaps?

The c36 should be OBDII, the US version at least that is.
So you are telling me you dont have a plug under your steering wheel kinda on the same panel where the hood release is?

- Special pin plug
- Bluetooth adapter
- Application like Torque.
That's all. You can read the codes but not delete them. You can also follow what's going on and plenty of real time info like temp, revs, etc.
The stuff Kowalski talks about is more complicated and for workshop use, deleting codes, etc. You can get that stuff later if you want.

YES!!
Here's a breakdown of the three things you need to make it work. The links are examples of the type of equipment you need, apart from the last link which is the Torque application you can get on Play Store for your Android phone.

you will NOT understand the codes if you check codes with an app, adapter and the round pin.
do you really want to buy the adapter pin just to check codes?
come on dude.
if you are smart, you go to the car dealer to check the car you interested to buy.
you tell car dealer to check the car for codes infront of you so they are not hiding any problems from you, then car dealer should give you a document with possibles codes or there were NO codes at all on that specific car?
you going to waste money on a 38 pin adapter, telephone apps and other mierda??
you will not understand much when it comes to error codes.
take the car to a Mercedes specialist pay them for inspection, it will save you dollares not buying mierda

I'm used to plug a thing to any car and when a code appears (usually you don't get 57 errors, just 1 or 2 in most common cars) you just google the code to know what you're dealing with...
I'm not that much into mechanics but I perform PPI inspections here with a friend who deals with the mechanical stuff... it is not rocket science what he does with the code reader in fact...
As I don't know how errors are shown in this specific cars, I ask!! Some cars just have the basics and more important electronical failures right there on your dash...
And yes, im not gonna buy a piece of míerda at the end!! Heje!! You guys are helping me not to miss anything at first sight
our buddy is not buying an american C43, he is going to move to Spain in Eürope.
european 1998-1999 C43's didn't have OBDII unless it's the final edition of MY2000 which might had it???
for him to check codes is to pop the huud and plug something into the round adapter pin next to the feuer wall
