C63s muffler on a C400/C450/C43 anyone?
I drive a C400 and the car is quiet. I deleted both resonators and went dual pipes into an X-pipe and dual all the way back to the stock mufflers. Car is still very quiet. I came across a set of 2015 C63s performance exhaust mufflers. I wanted to ask the group if the anyone here has added these mufflers to a C400/C450 or C43. I know the car will NOT sound like a C63 because of the engine size. My question is Will they work? Will they sound good or are these mufflers made for a V8 engine and specific to their exhaust pressure output. I know there are valves in them and I wont be able to make them function so my option would be to keep valves open at all times or have them closed at all times.
My thoughts were to find AMG mufflers and just added them to my car? Unsure if I need to stay with a V6 muffler or the V8 mufflers would work? I'm looking for the AMG sound, don't want to go after market, what other options or ideas do you guys have?
Any info on the subject would help!
Thank you,
Alex

They'll be louder than the current mufflers on your car, but mufflers are still mufflers. So I wouldn't expect a great increase in overall sound. Bullet style mufflers would be a better choice if you want to go louder.

I know you don’t want to go aftermarket, but that might be your best solution if you want a lot more noise and minimal drone. I would look into Corsa mufflers to replace your stock mufflers. They are know to not drone while offering a straight through design. I had them on a previous car and loved them.
If if you went this route, you could buy a used set from a Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger. The design is the same on all of them. The Corsa Sport or Extreme mufflers are going to be the loudest. eBay or Craigslist will have some available at a decent price.
I was running a supercharged V8 with my Corsa Sport mufflers, but I can post a sound clip if you’d like. Turbo cars are always going to be quieter.
They have a patent on this muffler design.

Maybe louder was not the correct term to use. My car at the moment is quiet with no character as it comes to exhaust sound and I'm looking for that sporty AMG rumble. My tune gives my car pops, crackles and burbles. I can hear them but they are not prominent, I want to bring them out more.
HTXgearhead: I appreciate the Corsa option but would like to stay AMG and the unique sound.
C43Ayemgee: What do yo mean about not getting an increase in overall sound? Do you mean it would not be louder? I don't think I will have the same sound as I do now? C400 mufflers were designed to be for a luxury family car so they are very quiet! NOT sporty at all!
I really like how that C400 sounds with the C63 exhaust. In my case I wouldn't have all the piping just the mufflers. The mufflers have valves so would I leave them open or closed them permanently? I will be able to get part numbers on these mufflers available to me, does anyone know if the same mufflers are used on all performance exhaust V6 or V8? My concern is that since the mufflers were made for V8's my V6 will not push out enough exhaust out to make them sound decent.
Thanks again guys!!

C63 mufflers will be louder than the c400 mufflers, But it's not a big difference if you trying to be significantly louder, Because they're still mufflers. HTX suggested corsa mufflers because they have a straight through design which will definitely be louder mercedes mufflers and you'll have less drone. Our loudness definitions are different since i'm coming from a straight piped v8. Basically, The c63 mufflers will be a bit louder than the c400 mufflers and give you a better tone, but not a big difference in overall loudness compared to having no mufflers.

If you want to save money before shelling out $$ for 63 mufflers, you might try cutting the lid off your stock muffler and pulling some of the fiberglass insulation out. Your exhaust will get louder at idle and open throttle (may end up with drone though.) That would be a very inexpensive solution unless you are set on 63 mufflers.

Be careful before you buy anything. Remember the C63 is RWD so underneath the car may be different than our C43's. You may have to buy and install new exhaust hangars as well. If you really want to stay OEM then I would personally go with the C43 Performance Exhaust from a salvage title car. Even then, I'm not 100% sure that would be just bolt on.

HTXgearhead: Can you post that sound clip you mentioned? Also what year Mustang/Camero/Challenger should I look into?
I'm going to look for a used set.
Thanks,

Decided not too, go with the C63 mufflers, just don't know what sound to expect out of them and if to keep valve open or closed. I'm going to look at Corsa Sport like HTXgearhead suggested and see what happens.

Here is a pic for reference.
The Corsa mufflers for any 2010-2018 5.0 Mustang, 5.7/6.4 Challenger, 5.7 Dodge Durango, and probably a few others I’m missing should fit. We have a huge amount of space to work with for dual mufflers, so even if the shape isn’t perfect, remounting the exhaust hanger should be an easy fix.
If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a PM. Here is my old car with headers, cam, no cats, and Corsa Sport mufflers. Obviously the C400 isn’t going to be nearly this loud, but it gives you an idea of how effective the muffler design is. I had no drone with this setup.
The 3.5 TT V6 in the Ecoboost will be closer to your exhaust sound.

Sounds better than I thought it would. Louder than I expected.

Update: Going to keep my stock mufflers in tacked and going to look for C43 AMG mufflers to install. Don't want to cut open my stock ones because if I don't like the sounds then I'm stuck with hacked up mufflers.
I will start a new thread when I get the AMG mufflers and have them installed.
Thanks for all you help and feed back guys.

Seeing that his last post was over 2 years ago, I am not sure what benefit well-wishing will have at this point...

@2009 C280 If your interested in an exhaust we are coming out with a valved PE replica exhaust. It will be like a PE but without a resonator. There is a soundclip of the deep mature rumble in this thread.
